I recently asked a question about disabling happiness altogether, and a poster recommended instead changing the luxury resource bonus from +5 to +100. Apparently this can be done by going to the "global defines", which I am not sure where to find. He told me to go to the Civilization 5 folder, followed by "assets" and then "xml". I found no "assets" folder in the Civilization 5 folder, nor did I find it in the Steam folder. A search led me to the config file from the Civilization 5 folder, but this config file did not contain any options to disable happiness or change the luxury bonus (though it did have options to disable a lot of other stuff, like combat and city screens etc.).

So can anybody help me find this global defines, or help me somehow mod the game to take out happiness? Happiness ruins this game for me...

Computer/C:/ProgramFiles/Steam/SteamApps/common/sidmeierscivV/assets/Gameplay/XML

It's in that XML folder.

The above fix would put you (and the AIs) in a near-constant state of golden age.

A more elaborate fix would involve setting UNHAPPINESS_PER_POPULATION and UNHAPPINESS_PER_CITY in GlobalDefines.xml to both be 0, and then disable all happiness buildings in the \buildings\Civ5Buildings.xml.

This would probably really confuse the AI, by the way.

It would also make the game near pointless.

In what way?

Combat would be the same (except for persia), building would be faster, and more gold. It would be like playing on quick except no changes in tech tree speed.
The only difference is that there is one less feature that is annoying the OP.

But i guess difficultly wise the game would be a lot easier for the player.
