Which advisor should I trust more?

Sometimes I notice that my advisors would give me conflicting messages. For example, when I'd consult my scientific advisor, he'd say something like, "We are scientifically ahead!". However, if I talk to one of the civs, the foreign advisor would say something like, "The Inca are scientifically equal to us".

I've also noticed this inconsistency between the military advisor and again, the foreign advisor. The military advisor would say, "Compared to these guys, we have a strong military!" but then if I'd personally talk to one of the civs, the foreign advisor would say, "Their military is the same size as ours."

Why the difference in opinion? And who is more accurate? Should I trust the foreign advisor more, since he's more in tune with the other civs, or should I trust the advice of the other advisors?

I've had this happen to me too, and I THINK what happens is that the Foreign advisor calculates things more generally that the Science or Military advisors, maybe because the computer has to calculate more things for the Foreign advisor. If i were you, i'd trust the Military and science. Also, you could be ahead from more than one civ- that is You're ahead of the Germans, and not the Incas.

When they said "comparing to these guys", it really means comparing to the specfic civ that 's displaying on the right panel in the miltary advisor screen. If you contact that same civ, the foreign advisor would definitely say exactly the same thing..;)

Hmmm.....ok, that makes sense.....but I still can't figure out why the foreign advisor sometimes contradicts the science advisor. As opposed to dragonrunner, I was thinking that since the foreign advisor's expertise is in understanding the other civs, he may get a better feel for them....but I really am unsure.

You are leading on tech compared to the other civs average, not to every single one of them. And afaik "equal" covers being just one or two techs ahead.

One is talking about strength, the other about size. They can have the same size, but if all their units are warriors while you have modern armor, your military is stronger while having the same number of units.

The Romans feel they our scientific equals - C3C 1.15b

Okay, they do not have Flight, Modern Transportation, Combustion, Facism, Communism, Industrialization, well, I think they are a WHOLE ERA behind.

Well, they feel... I don't think... <cough>

Something broken here?

I like one thing in my scientific advisor: he always wants more!
Running on 100% science isn't problem, he says:
"We lack the founds to keep up in research. Please increase science spending." :)

The Trade Advisor is by far the most difficult to please. You could have five of every single resource (both strategic and luxury) and she will recommend you get some more and trade them with your friends.

My advice is not to trust any of them.

I agree... you are your own best advisor. The only advise I trust is weather a deal is "acceptable" or "insulting" when making a trade.

i agree bigtime..never can please her..

i can have 4 furs on my land and she will pop off with "we should aquire some more furs" and the ever funny "we should build cathrdrals in every city so the people will flock to us" when like maybe 3 cities dont have cathedrals but the other 60 cities do :)

I think the next patch should have a To The Guillotine button on the advisors screen....Sometimes they just irk me to no end...basically for the same reasons as above.

I have a game somewhere where I control every strategic and luxury resource on the map, and the trade advisor still wants more. Perhaps she'd be happy if chocolate was in the game.

I really miss Civ 2 when they would argue with each other over who should get funding.

I miss the little buggers too.

That said, I find I check my military most often since he appears to give the most acruate assessment of my strength vs any civ I pick. If he says we are about equal or greater, that Civ very rarely gives me any trouble.

I always listen to my trade advisor on what deals are acceptable because he has always been right. Otherwise, I ignore him.

My science fellow is never happy even after saying we are tech advanced, he'll ask for more funding.

Ever try to decipher what they said during anarchy? I did. :)

MA: "I knew this would happen! YOU knew this would happen! I TRIED to tell 'ya..."

Elvis: "lalalalala" (singing)

FA: "You have no more of God's pity ..."

and some other's.

But, I don't trust the advisors anyway.

theyre just there for flavor IMO. the civ2 advisors kick civ3 advisor butt all the way from the stone age to the nuke that brings us back there :D
"let us build more soldiers so that they may cut the beating hearts from our enemies"
Thats advice.
