For me I think is Russia.

The last three games I play, Russia was in it, the last three games Russia declare war at me.

The first one I star it to build a lot of culture, but not many military, Russia had a good going on their military power. Very early on the game (around 3300 BC) they demand a tech for me, (I never give up anything for nothing), so they declare war at me.

They were kind of far, and my capital was build right at the middle of two big lands (one side was the Russians, the other the Chinese) So I knew exactly were the Russians was going to come from. I wait for then to come attack me, the units from then come two by two, and I killed every single one that came (I only lost two units).

The war last until around 30 AD, when they try to make a peace, as their military was weaker then my(and I start it to move big size of units forward). I demand all their city except two (and their capital), as they agreed for, +gold (I got 5 cities, I was trying to get some gold pt, but they never had).

The second time they did the same thing, but I had about the same military size, if not more, but this time they demand a communication.

Now I'm playing and they declare war around 500 AD, for absolutely nothing (the advisor just pop up in the middle of my wait turn and say, the Russia declares war on us). The funniest thing is that My military power is "hug" compare to theirs, so on the very next turn my advisor come and say "Russia have request a meeting" asking for peace already, and they was ready to give up cities (which they didn't have many on the part of the land that I'm, as I block then with units early in the game:D, but they have other cities on the land close by, which was the cities they were willing to give me ). I didn't accept, because thy have one source of Iron (and I only have one, on the land were my capital is), so I will capture the city close by the iron (I need to destroy one city before I get there), and then I give then peace:lol: .

So in your opinion, or experience, which is the most aggressive nation?

The Hittites. Each time I play with them as one of my rivals, they go crazy as soon as they research chivalry. They start sweeping across the land, and make and break alliances at will, conquering everyone one by one. Usually it starts off with the extortion, demands for techs, but then it moves to unprovoked attacks. Really agressive each time I play and they're there.

I've also seen India be very agressive in 2 or 3 games. As soon as they researched Fascism, they switched governments and started making lots of units. Then they swept across the continent, capturing every city and razing the last few on the continent.

Agression levels for tribes in Civ3:

Americans: Average
Aztecs: Above average

Babylonians: Above average
Chinese: Below average

Egyptians: Average
English: Average

French: Low
Germans: High

Greeks: Average
Indians: Low

Iroquois: Below average
Japanese: Above average

Persians: Above average
Romans: Above average

Russians: Above average
Zulus: High

Eh I find the game always pick at least one very aggressive civ all the time. I'm beginning to think the whole gameplay isn't random at all, but has certain events built in to incite war.

Aztec, Zulu, Maya, English, Summaria is what I noticed as being the ones the computer picks as aggressive.

Best example was in a recent game playing Romans I was on a continent squished between Arabia and Celts, with Maya bordering the other side of the Celts.

Celts weren't very well developed, small territory. I was focusing my attention for the most part on the Arabs so with Celts I had a very good relationship. Paid them off with gifts and such. Thing is after a long long peace, they eventually declared war on me out of the blue even though they were outnumbered, lagging in tech, no resources, and had no chance of winning. The Maya on the other hand were harmless puppies for almost the entire game till when I finaly decided to declare war to get the whole continent under my control.

The same game, after the whole continent became mine. I had perfect relationships with all other nations on the other continent, again by buying them off and such. But the second that there were no more threats on my continent the Summarians and Americans became angressive over there, switched to Facism, and started to build up. Tried dragging me into wars repeatedly with offers of mutual protection.

So it seems to depend on the game who's aggresive and who is not. And there will always be at least ONE aggressive civ around.

In my games Germany, Zulu, Persia, America, Iroqouis, Aztecs and Romans seem to be the most aggressive. I don't know why but Mongols never bother me much.

The Mongols are very aggressive with me. They attacked me uber-early in a recent Emperor game. Like before I had my 3rd city placed, and there was plenty of room to expand.

Germany is also aggressive. There was a GOTM a few months back where Germany started really close to the starting position and up to half the people got attacked and wiped out very early in that game. I guess I was lucky that game as I had their units tromping by my undefended cities without attacking. A more recent game had them starting too close to me; I knew they would attack relatively soon so I prepared for it. I was just barely ready for the attack when it came.

I don't seem to ever get placed close to the Zulu, but I hear they're aggressive.

I think just about any civ will attack you when there's no more room to expand, although Carthage was totally peaceful in my current game until I wiped him out with Riders.

Mongols, Germany, and Egypt. They are always a pain in my behind when it's on Monarch.

This is all relative, however, as I just finished an emperor level game with Germany right next to me plus Russia nearby and they were as gentle as a basketful of kittens, until I got MPP's and started a world war, :mwaha: :mwaha: :mwaha:

Germany, Mongols, Zulu, Russia, Persia, and Romealways seem to be the most agressive when i play against em. Perhaps the Vikings and Celts are pretty aggressive, but i would have to play against em more to see.

In my previous post I forgot to say, the most aggressive civ is probably whatever civ Wacken is playing. :p

You cannot say that this or that civ is the most aggressive one just because they attacked you in X number of games. Who is attacking you is more or less random, it may be one of the least aggressive civs. You can use the civilopedia in the game and read about each leader, and if it says Bismarck's level of aggression is "maximum", then this is true no matter if he chose to attack or not.

It is not the level of aggression alone that determine this. The AI is perhaps not very intelligent, but it uses complicated formulas.

It's always been the Zulu or the Aztecs for me.

Japan and Rome have gotten dicy with me sometimes.

But playing India is the opposite.

Japan, Americans, Babylonians, Greeks, Iroquois or Zulu never attack me before, and I never attack then before either. Iroquois are the best, they always seems to be successful and they always friendly.

The Vikings, just declare war at me right now, for no reason, but when the Russians did it, nobody want to help me out(only weak civs would), so I toke on my on, right after I end my war with the Russians, the Vikings come from the Iroquois region in mass, and invade one of my small cities from Russia that I had just conquer.

The Vikings, were the 4 in points, second in tech, and around the top 3 in power. I'm in first place in points, but I'm falling behind in tech :(.

Because I have just come out from war with Russia, I was going to have a hard war with the Vikings by my self. My military is the most powerful(Not by much), but I got a big size land (close by the Japanese), is like a Island, it just separate from the Japanese land by one square of land (which I block the Japanese with a warrior, and then I got a "right of passage from then (I had to give 23 gold, in a fill 20 turns). In this land I build lots of cities, and at the middle I build it the forbidden palace (which I just finished, toke me a long time, as was only 2 shield pt, this after court house:lol:.

So even know my military, was a lot, on this piece of land most of the units are old units :D.

So right after they declare war at me, I was ready to spend whatever to get someone to help me. For my surprise, one of the top 3 in tech(and with a good size army), only toke about 20 gold from me to declare war(that was the Korean, which was neighbor from the Vikings by the left, the Iroquois were by the right of the Vikings, and I'm all the way of the right of the Iroquois after ocean waters). The Koreans made a military alliance with the Iroquois, and that for sure save my two other small cities that I had there( I tough for sure those cities were lost).

After around 20 turns or so, I capture two cities from the Vikings, (the Iroquois capture 4 and destroy one (as it was only one citizens in it)).

The best thing was that the one of the city that I capture had one diamond in it, with another two close by, plus the city that the Iroquois destroy was close by the one with diamonds, and it had squills, so I send a settler very quick and toke those 3 squills ( I just trade then for a lots of gpt, so now I have my science at 100% research, and still money growing.

After I got those cities, I ask for peace, and got democracy(which nobody wanna it to trade with me:mad: .

I gotta continue the game tomorrow, I have to go to bed now, is 4 am here:crazyeye: .

Whenever the Zulus are in my games, I can ALWAYS count on them for a sneak attack at some time. At least the Germans will extort first, so you know they're coming.

The Romans seem to be all-or-nothing. They either get wiped out in my games or get big with a huge military.

5 Stars: Germany, Zulu and Mongols. 5 Stars are the most agressive, 1 star is the least agressive.

4 Stars:The Hitites, The arabs, The Celts, The Vikings, Aztecs, Babylon, Japan, Persia, Rome and Russia.

3 Stars:The Portugeese, The Incans, The Mayans, The Byzantine, The Dutch, The Spanish, The Ottomans, America, Egypt, England and Greece

2 Stars:The Sumerians, The Carthaginians, China, Korea and Iroquise

1 Star: France and India

I hope that helped :).

Aceman, is that your own judgement? I can't remember reading about a "star rating" anywhere.

Anyway, I don't see something looking wrong. Only 2 peaceful, so Firaxis did not add more hmm.

By the way. I speak only of the original tribes in C3. I only know a little about the tribes in the expansion packs.
They changed the traits in C3C, did they also change other things like aggression level?

No - It is not my own judgement. The stars mark the agression rating when you click on a leader head in the civilization menu at the main page.

(edit) I also only have vanilla.
