A middle-aged early 1960's (age 45 as of the post) and proud of it :D... well except for the small balding spot on top, the growing paunch in the belly, the poor short term memory, the...

1970. I'm a creaky old 38.

wow......that's OLD!

Sorry Padma if feel so at a few days short of 73 I feel happy in the company of all these joyful young people :)!

PEACE!!!

Grand Dad, my comment was about folks claiming to be "a creaky old 38", and responses like "wow......that's OLD!". :D

FWIW, you're technically old enough to be my father (my real father is in his 80s), so I wouldn't complain if you said you were "creaky". I just hope I'm still having this much fun when I'm your age.

Born 1973 here. Played Civ's 1, 3, and (now) 4 tons. Curiously, never played Civ 2 at all, not sure why though.

When I was growing up, I remember personal computers were just starting to become impressive, I loved playing "oregon trail" in school. Cable TV, microwave ovens, and VCRs were pretty new, cd's were just being introduced to the American market.

Funny how fast some things change.

Wow, this thread is becoming the riterement home of cfc

Just kidding, I actually think it's nice that there are also some 30+ and older people. Even though there aren't many.

I remember being a grunt kid of 18 in the U.S. Air Force coming out of Boot Camp trying not laugh at the lieutenants in tech school in Lowry AFB (now defunct, Aurora, CO) who were complaining about the aches and pains of being 24!

What does kind of bug me now though, is having people tell me that 8 & 10 year old kiddoes are handsome looking grandchildren!

I'm glad to know from you guys that it's still cool to like computer games regardless of age! :D

This poll is really quite interesting. I don't think there is a single other PC-game with so many "older" players.

Hmm, that's probably because most of the new PC games are typically action oriented with lots of stuff coming at you all the time. This is a carryover from the console games where the machine is optimized for action/fast graphics. Civ requires a little patience, thought, strategy and planning. I think this appeals to some of the older players who just don't like the "extreme" game experience. Frankly, sitting back with a glass of wine and beating the pants off Monty is much more rewarding than getting to a new level on a first person shooter. IMHO, of course.

ARE YOU READY FOR IN YOUR FACE ACTION?

I cannot imagine drinking wine while playing Gears of War.
