Which is better? PS3 or Xbox 360?

Xbox live doesn't cost 70 bucks a month. It is 54 a YEAR.

When the battery pack goes bad on a ps3 controller you toss thr controller out and buy a new one for sixty bucks.

 There is no "battery pack" on a PS3 controller... you just plug it in to the PS3 when the battery gets low and it charges while you play.

Over time the battery in the controller won't hold a charge. You then must have the controller plugged in constantly or replace it.

I've had my PS3 (and controllers) for awhile... they still hold a charge forever. Please leave your obvious bias out of your argument.

I haven't heard about that, any my friend who has had his 40 gig PS3 since release still has working controllers that last a long time.

Not an issue for me, or any of my friends that i have heard of.

It's a fact of rechargeable batteries that they will lose their ability to hold a charge after a while.

It's only when I leave it on to download, because the controller doesnt "sleep" when not being used. I don't really mind having it plugged in, and it holds its charge just as long as when it was new. (system is from when the PS3 slim came out)

Regardless, I think a new controller in five years is probably cheaper than all these freaking duracells my 360 controller has used since it was new. The 360 does have the play and charge kit (costs extra) and it's cord is much longer. But again, PS3 includes this function in the cost of the system at the expense of not using standard batteries at all.

Rechargeable batteries will lose their charge, it happens. But for li-ion batteries (I assume, they use em in everything else) it's basically hundreds of cycles before it happens. I mean my ipod uses em, and its four years old and still charges ok.

The loss of battery life on a PS3 controller isn't much of a big deal, I have had a PS3 for a while since it first came out and nothing with the conrollers has went wrong. Compared to the 360 controllers, they are also so much lighter.

I'm not a "hardcore gamer" per se, but personally I just happen to prefer the games on the 360 and therefore have a 360. No, none of the Final Fantasy or God of War series ever did much for me...the only series I envy on PS systems is Metal Gear Solid and Rising is coming out on 360 too so whatever.

Gamer suspended over name of town: Fort Gay

Microsoft Corp. and the chief rules enforcer for Xbox Live are apologizing to a small West Virginia town and a 26-year-old gamer accused of violating the online gaming service's code of conduct by publicly declaring he's from Fort Gay -- a name the company considered offensive.

The town's name is real. But when Josh Moore tried to tell Seattle-based Microsoft and the enforcement team at Xbox Live, they wouldn't take his word for it. Or Google it. Or check the U.S. Postal Service website for a ZIP code.

Instead, they suspended his gaming privileges for a few days until Moore could convince them the location in his profile, "fort gay WV,'' wasn't a joke or a slur: It's an actual community of about 800 in Wayne County, along West Virginia's western border with Kentucky.

"At first I thought, 'Wow, somebody's thinking I live in the gayest town in West Virginia or something.' I was mad. ... It makes me feel like they hate gay people,'' said Moore, an unemployed factory worker who plays shooters like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and Ghost Recon under the gamertag Joshanboo.

"I'm not even gay, and it makes me feel like they were discriminating,'' said Moore, who missed a key Search and Destroy competition because of last week's brief suspension. His team lost.

Angry and incredulous, Moore contacted customer service.

"I figured, I'll explain to them, 'Look in my account. Fort Gay is a real place,''' Moore reasoned. But the employee was unreceptive, warning Moore if he put Fort Gay back in his profile, Xbox Live would cancel his account and keep his $12 monthly membership fee, which he'd paid in advance for two years.

"I told him, Google it -- 25514!'' Moore said, offering up the town's ZIP code. "He said, 'I can't help you.'''

Mayor David Thompson also tried to intervene, but with little success. He told television station WSAZ, which first reported the dispute, that he was informed the city's name didn't matter. The word "gay,'' he was told, was inappropriate in any context.

"It was so inappropriate for them, they wouldn't even say the word,'' Thompson told the AP Wednesday. "They said, 'that word.' It's beyond me. That's the name of our town! It's appalling. It's a slap in our face.''

Stephen Toulouse, director of policy and enforcement for Xbox Live blamed miscommunication.

"That is absolutely incorrect'' and is not Xbox Live policy, he said.

Xbox Live received a complaint, which was directed to an agent for review.

"Someone took the phrase 'fort gay WV' and believed that the individual who had that was trying to offend, or trying to use it in a pejorative manner,'' Toulouse said. "Unfortunately, one of my people agreed with that. ... When it was brought to my attention, we did revoke the suspension.''

Complaints, he notes, come to agents with no contextual information, including who the suspected offender is or what games they play. The agent simply looks at the language and determines whether it complies with policy.

Honestly, Microsoft's draconian online policies, and their obstinate refusal to even listen to their customers, is just insane. Its stupid crap like this that make me glad I don't have a gold subscription anymore.

Does this mean if I play GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony, I am breaking their terms of service? The game name shows up on my Xbox Live status....

The word Gay is entirely subjective, as well. I mean I know people who are gay, and the term doesn't have to be used as an insult. It's even used on TV shows that are broadcast in prime time. Last I checked, you weren't supposed to even use Xbox Live under 13.

Maybe if microsoft pulls its head out of its ass someday, they'll realize that this is 2010, and not the victorian age.

Nintendo's online service is overly family friendly, but that's nintendo. Come on, Microsoft, I think we can live with a little PG-13 here.
