Pink Floyd. The Who's carreer is shorter and their evolution is less interesting.
However the Who are great as well.
I hope I die before I get old! :)

I thought The Who evolved alot! They went from sounding like the Beatles to having their own style (isn't that evolving?).

sysyphus, the charges were dropped.

I voted for The Who. It's not even a contest for me. My favourite band of all time next to Sonic Youth.

As to evolution, The Who went from "My Generation" to writing operas (Tommy, Quadrophenia. Sophistication wise, that's like starfish to great apes.

Plus, Keith Moon could play faster than Anatomy / Physio said possible

Cool people like The Who more, hence the poll results are roughly congruent with what one would expect from an internet forum.

Considering their music had little in common, it's hard to say which was better. I like some stuff that The Who did (some parts of Tommy) and some stuff Floyd did (Dark Side of the Moon). OTOH, both bands put out some real crap (The Who Sell Out, anything post-Wall). I voted for "neither."

The Who really got its but kicked in this poll. :)

A question I've been meaning to ask- is Pink Floyd The Wall a good movie?

Although I think the Wall is Pink Floyd's worst album (though I've never heard The Final Cut), the film was really good, I'd say it's worth watching.

I'd go so far as to say that the album was more of a Roger Waters solo project than a Floyd album.

If you like the Who, you are a man, and you like to rock.

If you like Pink Floyd, it is inevitable that you are going to turn into a burned-out old pothead.

Now, the real question is, can anyone deny that if God played drums, he'd play like Keith Moon?

---

EDIT: Sure, the Who didn't evolve, and Pink Floyd did, but does anyone like what Pink Floyd evolved into?

(Btw, Saucer Full of Secrets is a decent album. At least, its interesting.)

Well, assuming by this that you're indicating God would be a good drummer, then no.

Oh, and haven't you indicated appreciation in both Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones?

No, He'd play like Neil Peart. :D

I really really like them both, but IMO Pink Floyd is better by a clear margin.

I hated it, but that's because I'm not a pothead ;)
All potheads I know simply loved the movie.

Pink Floyd easily.

Of course, but some spirit opening as well as philosophical knowledge is needed to truely appreciate their music.

Have you seen the Weekend at Bernie's (Parts 1 and 2)-esque corpse that wanders around calling itself Keith Richards? :p

 I won't deny that Keith Richards mocks death at every moment.

But, Rolling Stones fans are not burned out potheads. Pink Floyd fans are.

(On a related note: Once I was listening to the radio and a guy called in requesting "Echos", by Pink Floyd. He went on to say that he has an entire room devoted to the band, loaded with memorabilia, and that he owns every record. The DJ asked, "Do you live alone?" The answer was yes. Then he says, "As I expected. Now, get to your bong, the song is coming on...")

Oh yes. Quite.
If I had smoked instead of drinking beer tonight I wouldn't feel like giving you a knuckle sandwich, now would I?
