On a panagea/continents, with iron & horses available, if you could pick from the all the knight replacements (regrardless of the traits associated with that UU), which would you pick and why?

I chose the War Elephant. It's not the most powerful, but you can always build it, and it just looks so neat. There's something so gratifying about having a mass of War Elephants. Though they're not as effective as other UUs, mechanically speaking, there's something about them that just seems so intimidating.

Ansar. Its three move makes it able to avoid counterattacks/hide behind pikes. Therefore its disability is not that serious and the reduced cost makes it slightly preferable to the rider.

Samurai. Well balanced and 2 (!!) movement points (wow, those guys are fast!). You can easily take a city and hold onto it, so you dont need to bring pikes to guard the city.

Samurai. Without a doubt. I still had four-slot Samurai armies running around, softening up Mech Inf in the modern ages....

i woted samurai for their ability to hold captured cities and the fact that they only need one resource... but i could just as well have woted for the war elephants extra hit-point and the fact that you can allways build them no matter the resources.
Plus they both look much cooler then the other chivalry-uu's.

Personnally, I can't see why anyone would pick the Rider over the Ansar. 10 shields for one defense point on an offensive unit?
I voted the Indian War Elephant. It requires no resources, but the best part is the additional health point with no additional cost. It gives a serious combat edge over the opponents. Samurais look the coolest, but they aren't my favorite overall.

Samurai, fast and a killer in defense AND offense, something which isn't that common in civ 3.
Samurai's, I have some sort of fascination about footsoldiers compared to their mounted/mechanized counterparts - just look at the avatar

I voted for the Chinese rider because of the additional speed and the extra defensive capabilities. While it is not a good as a samurai on defence, it is just like a Calvary with less attacking firepower. Speed is always the killer factor. While it is dearer than the Ansar warrior, the extra defence does help when holding up your cities.

With the exception of the Keshik, I enjoy using all the Chivalry UU. However, my personal favourite is the Rider. It is so fast and strong, the little extra coin is worth it. However, the extra HP for the War Elephant is a very nice bonus as well.
