We can place a city to the southwest to get dyes. Two locations have been discussed, now the people should decide which one is preferred. Please choose between sites 1A and 1B on the attached map, or abstain if you prefer a different placement for this city.

This poll is not to decide settlement order, that will be another poll.

This poll will run for 24 hours

Why is that, Rik?

@ Vander - It seems that Rik Meleet has taken up the same philosophy that Chieftess has. That being that our "friends" at Poly have "shown us the way" to habitat a Jungle environment.

Unfortunately, we have alread decided to expand elsewhere. It seems our main drive for new cities is to the East, outside of the Jungle terrain.

Poly didn't have the opportunity to develop "outside" their Jungle terrain, so the built their cities closely together. This allowed for quick defensive moves, where a unit could actually guard or back-up 2 or 3 cities at once. It also allowed quick placement of their first ring of cities.

We don't have these problems. We have made peace with our neighbors and have units in the area clearing out the Barbarians. This also happens to be CITY # 6. We will not profit from a quick city placement, as one would in the begining of the game. We will only detract from the Capital city needed tiles as it grows.

But I guess it doesn't matter, really. We are long past logical reasoning in a lot of areas. Whatever.

1A coastal vs. non-coastal? no question

"Dense or not dense ?" is all about 1 question: "Do we need the cities, or are they fillers". If we need the cities; choose dense in jungle. If we place cities there to obstruct others from using the sites; choose non-dense.

I think we can use those cities, close and even in our core, for far better use than to just be space-fillers. Once only part of the jungle is cleared, they already get working.

We have industrious workers, clearing the jungle takes time, but not that much. If we build dense, we get to clear jungle easier and have several fairly good cities in our core.

You're right, RM. ;) Clearing the Jungle is not as bad as a lot of people say it is. We do have the best Workers in the game, so it will go even quicker for us. That's why we should not use a tight build pattern. Once we get these cities going and start removing this Jungle, these cities will thrive on what lies beneath.

Say no to crowded city placement when growth is an option for core cities.

oops, didn't see the other one was coastal, i should have looked closer, still, in the future an enemy could easily blockade the port if there was only 1 tile, and it would allow ships coming out of port to get places faster
