Now that we have gotten a little time to get used to the new wonders/units/governments in [c3c]conquests[c3c] that affect gameplay, what type of map size do you like best now?

I still like large best. Normal was always too small and huge was always too big. The new features haven't changed that for me at all!:)

Giga 300 x 300

I modded the maps setup in PTW, but what I really hate about maps with more than 250*250 (appr) tiles is the fact that, after the 512th city there will remain large areas being unused

Typically, short after entering the middle ages, I will have to start wars just to be able to raze cities and to build new ones on good locations...
I cannot understand, how they could hardcode this city limit - in a time in which it is at least not unusual to have systems with 1024+ mb of memory and huge hard drives... not to mention the cpu speed

Don't you face these empty areas on the world maps, with your settings????

Normal is plenty big enough. Huge is way too big, and the games take way to long, and there are too many units to move about.

Large is my favourite. But standard is good too, when I don't want the game to take so long to play.

And all of you guys that plays Giga maps and such, why? Why, why why? WHY?

I rather play several games then one gigantic. First, this gives me more chances to improve. 2nd, I get to play each era several times. 3rd, those maps take forever between turns. 4th, I get to play several different civs.

On all the maps I have played on I have never run in to the city limit. I just like big maps, Grey Fox you do have a point but when you have cpu speed to use, why waste it:p

Large (between 140x140 and 160x160). I aslo like normal.
Smaller maps are just too compact, and the bigger are too much of a hassle to play. Too big and too many cities and units.

Standard. I don't like my mpas to big, but I don't like them too small.

Tiny or Small. I hate it when I have to manage above 20 cities, it becomes really boring

Same here:goodjob:

Plus it means I can play games with 15 other civs on teh map, which is always fun:nya:

350 x 350. I like to explore a bit before running into another civ.

Large... I like having more civs on the same map. The political situation can get wacked out sometimes. Huge is too much to manage (although I am playing a huge map now).

Tiny is sometimes fun for a spearman/archer rush elimination game. But would be better if they did not always start the civs right on top of each other (at least on few tiny maps I've played).

Huge is the only size I'll play on. It's hard to reach the absurd city limit, but you can really get a feel for exploration and strategy.

Large, with no cities allowed in deserts or tundra (and no planting forests in tundra).
