Which mods are you playing?

Long ago I tried RTR and didn't like it. Lasted no more than two or three days.

After finishing most vanilla RTW fctions I got XGM. Had some fun on there, played several successful and unsuccessful campaigns. Had a huge Greek empire .Quality mod and constantly getting updated.

Then I got barbarian invasion and did a couple campaign on there. (yes i know it isn't a mod, I'm just putting it in to make things flow)

The other day I downloaded the 4th age total war. Seems to be a quality mod so far, pretty challenging (playing as the duneldin) Not sure how I'm going to be able to fight off Gondor's troops with much better stats and morale.. we will see

I'm playing Europa Barbaroum and Chivalry: Total War. Some pretty good (but not finished) mods. I know that I will never uninstall EB.

What exactly is darthmod? I've heard of it everywhere, but can't seem to find any real info on what it's about/does.

It's the first google result for DarthMod.

It adds several new world maps (A Risk map, which are small and have less territories, a really really large map, some hcanges to the default campaign map as well.), some new units, the AI has been improved, (although the roman's new starting formation, that sort of checkerboard thing, is rather ineffective in RTW). Improved unit graphics.

The 4th Age (LOTR) is very good. Plus it doesn't interfere with vanilla so you don't have to put it into a seperate install.

One of my favorite aspects of that mod is that there are no rebel/brigand armies that pop up all over the place. I absolutely hate those.

I though the regular orcs were rather pointless IMO. Even stronger orcs and uruks.Their stats and morale SUCK, so once one rout you are 90% guaranteed a chain rout. Sure you may recruit 9 of the weak orcs at a time, but that doesn't do much good when all armies have the same max size. Let's not even mention to stronger orcs and uruks which you can't recruit 9 at a time, and still have crappy morale and sub-par stats compared to the units you could normally recruit.
Reunited kingdom is ridiculously OP'ed. Fighting them with me as Dunland makes me wonder how my desk ahs not been broken in half
And, Generals (not the bodyguard) also seem to be ridiculously OP'ed. It isn't rare for them to be completely surrounded and have units beating on them for ages, and then they just ride out of the whole crowd unharmed.

My main problem though was that it took an eternity for the game to load up, and for each loading screen (pre battle, after battle, loading campaign)


Do you know what the message "the orcs return to mordor" that occurs several turns into the game means?

I play Europa Barbarorum, and had a nice game with Pontos going, but I'm afraid all the teasing the EB team has been doing of late has somewhat killed my enthusiasm for 0.81a2...
