About a year ago I bought Civ II (reg). Now I want to get ToT but first I want to know if it has muliplayer or if I have to buy MGE. Which version do you recomend?

IIRC, TOT does have MP, but I am not sure, if this is even the case, if your opponent has to have TOT to play against you or if it's compatible with MGE.

It really depends on what is most important to you. MGE is the most common and 'accepted' version (the one most people around here have, nearly all MP games use MGE). TOT has flashy graphics and the 'extended game'. I haven't played around much with it because I seem to have lost my TOT disk :o

You might be able to patch TOT up to MGE using Cedric Greene's patch, but I could be (am probably) wrong.

Bottom line: I recommend MGE.

Both ToT and MGE have multiplayer, but they are not compatible. That is, you can't play with ToT against someone who has MGE (or vice versa).

As Ren said, MGE is used far more by multiplayers, so that's probably the safe bet if you just want multiplayer.

The ToT community is still growing though, and it has superior scenario(-making) possibilities.

You can also patch Classic Civ II to MGE from the Civ II downloads section. Just be warned, if you have dial-up, it can take a long time.

Thanks everyone. I think im going to buy MGE. I found it for $8.50 on amazon.com.

I tried the update patch thingy from Reg to MGE but for some reason it screws with my video, so maybe the real game wont do that. Oh well.
