I've heard some people say RT3 is better than railroads, which one should I get?

It's all a matter of perspective. What one person may enjoy another person might despise.
Personally, of all the Railroad Tycoon games released since the original, I liked PopTop's Railroad Tycoon II the best. I did not care for RRT3 at all.
I do not consider Railroads! to be RRT4. I feel it is in a class of its own. IMO it is more of a model train sim.
