I see all sorts of reports of people having problems with BLACK terrain, but mine is white. I am running 1.61. I have an AMD 2600+ and a GeForce FX5200 with the latest driver update. I checked and the GPU does support T&L. I have tried changing the graphics quality & settings in the game. Check out the attached screen:

Just tried it out on my laptop with a Radeon Mobility 9000 32MB. Of course that's not enough video memory to play it but the graphics look fine. So I guess the white terrain is because of the FX5200. Can this be fixed with this card?

Oh gosh, this is real?! OK, you have probably tried the usual troubleshooting: patch game to 1.61, get new graphics drivers, reinstall directx. You have experimented with various gfx options. Try windowed mode also. And check also the properties of your gfx card.
Do you get this issue constantly or after some time? Are all tiles white? (Sea isnt as I see). Have you reinstalled? Have you run the game successfully (non-white) on the computer before?

Edit: try installing the blue marble mod: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=6

Do I have to do anything with that mod other than run the file? I did that, and I see the blue marble logo at the main menu, but the maps don't look any different. The issue is constant. The water features and the trees look ok, probably because those are animated. Roads, cities, units, and square improvements also look ok. Windowed mode is the same. I tried installing it on this computer for the first time yesterday, and it's always looked like this. Reinstalled a few times.

I've tried adjusting resolution settings in the game and globally with no change. What other gfx card properties should I try to change? Also, leader faces are all white as well. Here's a few more screen caps.

I have searched the forums. FX5200 users have various issues but no reports of white terrain (or at least I could not find it). Try different video drivers... older/newer.

Rolled it back to 5.6.7.2 from 9.* and now it's working. I thought updates were supposed to fix problems and not create them LOL. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe it was because I had it slightly OC'd, and when I installed the old driver it reset it to default speeds. I'll have to play around with it some more.

Too bad, I thought this would be a good excuse to buy a new video card. :(
