In one game I was playing as the Romans and the Greeks were on my right, the English on my left, and I destroyed the Babs to my north.

The Greeks and the English got into a war, and I was really advanced so Greece payed me handsomely to join the war against England. We crushed them and Greece and I were good allies.

Then we agree to a MPP. He also gets a MPP with America and Iroqois, the only other 2 civs left. America is bugging me, so I attack some of their cities. Greece instantly declares war on me, therefore Hiawatha has to as well.

I counted on Greece to be on my side, but instead I had to destroy them?

How come they didnt help me?

Well, you crossed over into their territory first. It would have been better if you let American troops cross the border, so that Greece would join your side.

If you have an MPP with CIV "A" and CIV "B" if you attack first it activates the MPP against you, if you trick that civ to attack you instead (which is no diffucult part with the AI, then you're MPP buddy will join you on your side not his.

It doesn't matter who attacks first, it matters where the attacks take place. If you only attack enemy troops inside your territory it will not activate any MPPs the AI may have, but as soon as you attack a unit or bombard a square in their territory their allies will declare on you. At least, that's my experience (in PTW 1.27f).

Yep, any agressive act against territory or navy triggers a MPP. Defending your own territory does NOT trigger a MPP.

It has nothing to do with the AI's attitude with you.

That is why it is always a good idea to check the F4 screen with MPPs active to see who has an MPP with whom before you declare war. A common strategy when faced with a situation where Civ A has an MPP with you and Civ B. You want to go to war with civ B, but you don't want to have to fight civ A also. Declare on civ B and don't do anything except kill units in your lands. Eventually they will attack you (sometimes you need to be patient) and when they do, it triggers the MPP against them.
