who would you talk to?

GenghisK's parents. That way, I could keep them from introducing this little black mark on the history of Mankind's existance to the world!

Good question. I'll have to think about this one for a while.

I am thinking I would like to meet Hiawatha because he was a great man who was very in touch with his people and lead them to be better in touch with the universe than perhaps any other civilization before or since.

To find out more about Hiawatha click here.

Napoleon Bonaparte!!!!!!!!!!

And I would tell him to have Nelson assassinated, to find a really good naval officer to be Admiral of the French navy and to take much better care of the Navy!!!!

Boy oh boy that would have been good if France had won just half of those sea battles, then the universal language had been French and Denmark would have been a major country!!

Damn those Englishmen..........

It may sound a bit trite, but I honestly would want to talk with Jesus of Nazareth. What did he really say and teach? What did he believe about himself and God? Many other questions, I'm sure, as well.

I believe you can talk to Jesus of Nazareth right now. He is still here with us if we only stop and look around. Take some time and talk to him today. You will find the answers to the questions you have if you ask with an open mind. I know this may sound wacked to some but that's ok, I used to feel the same way. I am not a bible thumper and one would not call me a heanily religious man. But I do talk to Jesus and he tells me what I need to know.

I'd have to go with Shadow, Napoleon would be the one.

I'd like to ask him why he let the Spanish ulser fester, failed to acchieve a permanent peace with Britain, why he tried Russia, what was on his mind at Waterloo, so many questions.

Long-John Silver...I´d ask where he burried the treasure.

Alcibiaties of Athenae, I am not sure what his stategy was, but I think he was just another misguided power hungry man, so his goal was ultimately to achieve self-fulfilment by conquest.

On another note, you would probably find my Trail of Tears thread of interest since you liked the one about the Great Iroquois Peace Pipe , which incidentally I posted another Iroquois folklore story on that thread that deals with the Iroquois theory on creation which you may have overlooked as well. If you have already seen these then please excuse me for bringing them up here.

I'd take either Jesus or Buddha. Actually, I'd like to get the two of them together and let them discuss all their thoughts with eachother whilst I'm hanging around in the background absorbing.

. Seriously, great idea.

I'd like to get all the major philosophers and Great Teachers (Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, etc,)and have a chat session about life and the meaning of it.
I'd also like to gather the great scientists like Isaac Newton, Galileo, Copernicus, John Dalton, Marie Curie, and others in a room and have them discuss science and their world views.
Lastly, I'd want to bring together all of the African heroes and heroines of the ages, from Sundiata and Shaka to Fannie Lou Hamer and Dr. King, to talk with them, and hear their thoughts on courage, hope, and the human spirit.

I'd probably want to talk to the first hominid to pick up a rock and use it as a tool. I'd say something like, "Look, you start using that thing to clean your food and work over skins for clothes - great short-term gain - but then there'll be more technological development and the next thing you know you'll have a civilization on your hands, and let me tell you it's all downhill from there. Trust me; I know where this is going..."

I am genuinely surprised no one has yet said Socrates. I'd like to list him, but frankly, if the stories Plato told about him are true, then I don't think I could really stand up to his style of discussion. I doubt any one of us could.

I could never narrow it down to just one, though. There would be far too many people I'd want to talk to. Genghis Khan. Oda Nobunaga. George Washington. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. Attila. Diogenes of Sinope. (Though not in my house . . . yuk!) Isaac Asimov. Carl Sagan. Rudyard Kipling. Alfred the Great. William the Conqueror (but only if I could convince him to stay the hell out of England!
mad.gif
) Phil Hartman. Niccolo Machiavelli. Alaric. Sandro Botticelli. Voltaire. Jules Verne. John Lennon. Django Reinhart. Chet Atkins. I could keep going, but why? The list would be too long.

Yeah i can't narrow it to just one either. Jesus, Socrates, Buddha would be my top three, hands down. Nietzche, Dostoyevsky and Camus would go well with some really nice scotch in a dark dingy pub somewhere.

And if I could rope Marshall Mclughan, Ferdinand De Saussure and Claude Levi-Strauss into proofreading my papers I'm sure I could bump up my GPA a notch or two.

Alexander the Great and Napoleon would have some great thoughts on footie too I'd wager.
