(And also why the Swiss were reputed as having the best Pikemen in the world, and how they were able to continue using them even after the discovery of gunpowder. Look at a topographical map of Europe and you'll understand )

I thought it was the sweedish that had the best pikemen in the world. Untill the bayonette, pikemen were still used by everybody.

Well, I drew my conclusion about the Swiss from the fact that they would hire them out to just about everyone who wanted them.

(Of course, it could have been the Swedish, but I'm not entirely sure.)

The swiss were friendly to other nations, they basicly said"use our bank accounts, ski at our mountains, but if u invade we will give u hell"
plus any invasion would pretty much end up with high casulties for a pretty much unuseable country.
