Why am I so frustrated with Civ4?

If do find it frustrating sometimes, but I enjoy the things you mentioned because it's greater overal realism. It's definitely very hard to play a peace-builder game sometimes, or to pull into the lead, but that makes it more rewarding when you finally figure out how to do that without starting advantages.

Am I doing something wrong? Why do other people enjoy Civ4 so much when I find it so frustrating?

Shouldn't it take more than 1 turn to raze a city?

Since 1 turn = at least 1 year, that seems long enough.

Shouldn't some of the people in a razed city be allowed to relocate to a nearby friendly city?

The great majority of people forced to flee during wartime become refugees. They do not suddenly become productive citizens elsewhere for quite a long time. In Civ4 terms, that would be like adding some number of citizens to the nearest city that could not work the land or become specialists for, say, 5-10 turns. During that time, the city's unhealthiness and unhappiness would skyrocket while the food supply would start running out. And to make this fair, however, some of the displaced population should also join cities in neighboring civs, possibly even the one who razed the city.

Or maybe you should get a bonus if you found a city on top of city ruins. Like some of the buildings might already be there or it can start at a higher population than 1.

I kinda like this idea.
