Why are they all suddenly unhappy (no newbie question)?

Hello.

Well, something mysterious has just happened to me. :crazyeye:

Turn n: every city has a majority of happy citizens (about 8 out of 12).
Turn n+1: majority of UNhappy citizens (only 3 or 4 happy per city remain).

Now, how is this possible since I didn't
- reduce the lux rate
- lose access to luxuries (had one myself, one imported, still have both)
- change gov
- make peace (I'm at war with two civs)
- lost control of a wonder (such as Bach).

The only explanation I can think of is war happiness coming to an end and being replaced by war weariness. I have been pillaging lots of enemy improvments with my dromons and I think this counts in WW. But when I click on unhappy faces, I only get the usual "100%: too crowded" (or such, I have the French version).

Any other suggestion?

well, it's almost certainly war weariness. your sure it's 100%? but i guess if you rirhjg the only possible explination is a booming population explosian or the wearing of of War hapiness

I've gotten a few seemingly random surges of unhappiness before, and then they go away. I think what ybbor meant was "you're right" not "you rirhjg".

could a happiness wonder (say, the Hanging Gardens) have gone obsolete?

Would sound reasonable, but the answer is no because I have none.

I think this is the explanation. You go from war happiness to war 'indifference'', you lose the happiness bonus but still you have no unhappiness so that is why it still shows 100% too crowded.
