Why cant I have more than 30,500 gold pieces?

I was doing very, very well in a recent game of Civ2. I hardly ever bought anything, and by the mid 1800'sthe game was all over bar the shouting.

I was going to carry on building a huge empire, and seeing how rich I could get when I noticed soemthing quirky going on with the cash!

I was not getting any richer, the gold pieces would not go beyond 30k! According to the taxes I should have been making aprox 500 gold a turn, but nothing was happening. If I bought something, my gold dropped again to the high 29k.

IS this a bug? IS there a patch?

It is a limit witihin the game. I believe there is a 'no limits' patch around that allows you to pass the money limit. It might be the download section of the main site here.

You could use yor spare cash to rush build improvements or wonders etc. Thats what I ended up doing. Its annoying though because later on when I was at war with someone, I could have done with the extra cash.
