Why did my directories get installed in the Pirates! folder?

I was just looking for my Civ4 ini file, and I noticed a shortcut in the Civ4 directory which pointed to my installation of Pirates!:

C:\Documents and Settings\PROFILE\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!\

WTH?

It appears that the following files and folders are all located there:
Civ4.ini
Custom Assets
Public Maps
Mods
Logs
Patch
Replays
Saves
ScreenShots
Transferred Maps

Why did this happen, and could it have anything to do with the random blue screen crashes I get every 5-30 minutes?

no i dont think da freezin thin has nethin 2 do wid dem bein in der. try usin copy n paste 2 get dem outta der.
