Why did they nerf tanks??

what promotions are you speaking of?

They usually get attack movement which lets you move after attacking, can get the Wounded damage promotion, and a few other unique ones.

They are basically just really really good at rolling into a territory and cutting down attackers or defenders really quickly. They can also deal decently well with Artillery wars in ways infantry often just can't.
