Why is 1.17f slower than 1.16f?

Anybody else seeing the double-delay between turns since the patch came out??

I thought the patch was going to make a minor improvement in game time, but now instead of sitting for 3 minutes per turn I sit for SIX!! I can't deal with that, being only in the industrial era... I'm gonna try reloading the old patch and hope it works without reinstalling the whole game tonight...

But I'm curious if this is an issue that is unavoidable because of some backend coding firaxis had to do...? If so, I will still keep the game and all, because I know how that sh*t can be being a software developer myself. But I would like to know from the firaxians themselves if this is a bug that will be fixed or if I'm just gonna have to deal with the slowness.

Yea, we've all noticed it.

I don't care what alleged "improvements" are in 1.17. If it is much slower than the very slow 1.16 it is going to be UNINSTALLED.

So much for patches. :(

Maybe Firaxis thinks we all have ten gig CPU's??

Those are the kinds of computers they test them on.

Haven´t installed the 1.17 patch yet,am currently on a huge game, that will probably not end in my lifetime, have been playing this one for the past month...
Am going to pull this one through for a change, already have most components for the spaceship :)

After that I am planning to install the patch though, the Readme sounded great, the made .bic changes I can do myself, but stack movement sounds awesome. On many threads I find complaints about the patch, what now?First there was the moaning about the editor, this does seem solved now,and now this,I really can´t take an even slower game,am already waiting ages for turns to change, and like I said have been on this game for weeks, only paused sometimes for some new civs and some cs. :)

I don't wan't to jinks myself but its been going faster for me since I downloaded the new patch :goodjob:

hey, can you tell me your computer's specs? I have a crappy little AMD K6-2 450 MHz. I figure if you're going faster, maybe they've actually optimized the code but it only helps for certain processors or something like that...

(EDIT)I feel a little (a LOT) stupid for this, but after timing my turns in 1.16 (reinstalled the old patch), I found that they were exactly the same wait as 1.17... er... maybe I just didn't realize how much waiting I was doing before or something. So I'll have to apologize for starting this thread, as I'm NOT having a delayed turns issue.
