Why is Cassiel still in power?

You would think that with Cassiel's "Ignor the gods, do what you can yourself" philosophy, wouldn't it fit lore wise for Casiel to point the Gregori in the right direction, then leave them to themselves? In this case, I don't think
Cassiel should be the only Gregori leaderhead (if one at all). Please tell me if this makes any sence....

I am still a beginer at lore but my guess is he is trying to ensure his ideas will spread far and wide, besides I don't think cassiel ment an anarcy nation just a religionless one.

Cassiel, from a lore perspective (as opposed to how it played out in games) was a teacher and builder of councils. He believed in local government, and was against centralized power. The Grigori had no standing army, and almost all decisions were made in local town halls.

So even though Cassiel is the leader of the Grigori, he isnt a typical monarch or president. If not for the devotion of his followers and his repuration within and outside of the grigori he would have little actual power.

Her is how Grigori works,
Cassiel: the Sheaim have invaded our lands trying to convert us
Villagers: How dare they try to enforce their fake religion
Cassiel: If we don't get their quickthey will slaughter them all and raise them as pyre zombies
Villagers: To arms men..
Result: half the men from the surrounding area rush to beat back the Sheaim

I know it's not quite accurate but... hey that's how i think of it

I agree with that, and considering they call up powerful adventurers to fight for the cause, it helps them keep in line with trained standing armies. I see it that each unit you build is weaker than other standing armies, but you have some unnamed adventurers intertwined in the mix. This way they are as strong as the national forces rallied against them. Not all adventures are national heroes some can be considered part of the units you build (in fact per lore many are more interested in mead and dungeons)

If I had it may way (mmmm burgers) oh um yea my way I would make all of them built with food and hammers and give them all the weak promo from the start. To balance this out let them have the Warlords mechanic to gain a free adventurer when they have done enough combat. Its not being used anyway...

I like this way of thinking about it. Especially when only one warrior survives a battle. =)

Rather give great commanders for combat.

But on topic. I really see Cassiel more of a mechanical necessity (a civ must have a leader) than an actual ruler. Sure he's an important figure but unlike Cardith (just for example) he doesn't hold a lot of power.

I think that Cassiel might see things similar to you zup. Cassiel would doubtless *like* to leave humanity completely alone, but fears that without his guidance and support the Grigori would fall prey to aggressive, god-worshipping rivals.

Spoiler :
Well now he is a martyr. His influence should now be stronger than ever...

sorry about that...

heisenberg, Avahz, could you PLEASE put spoiler tags around that kind of thing? :(

lol there's no spoilers in the line i posted earlier... no one who hasn't played that scenario would understand it anyway

I have not played it, but I can put your comments together and figure out what happens. If they were made seperately, I probably would not have come to the same conclussion.
