It isn't that bad; some of them are converted into slaves, if it makes you feel any better.

Does anyone have any actual data supporting that playing FPSs predisposes you to become a killer?

Are you referring to paint-ball?Doc Tsiolkovski said:A couple of years later, the very same thing became a popular 'hobby'.
I consider that insanely disgusting.
You may not think so, but there does not seem to be any shortage of people who do.Doc Tsiolkovski said:That isn't the correct question. I don't think FPS really produce violant people.
Substitute "shoot" with "hit", and that's what elementary school taught me. Partly unlearnt it since. The horrible thing about them is the 'Shoot first, then think' ideology. Of course, this is exactly what military trainings wants to teach you.
Back in 1988, I objected halfways during my military service exactly for that reason.
I still find it hard to see how the inhibitions can be lowered by something that doesn't trigger the inhibitions in the first place.I don't want to loose my reluctance to kill other humans without thinking before - but the shooting practises are aiming for this.
The situation is complicated than that. I presume you a talking about Bhutan, a small landlock kingdom between India and China. TV was legalized in 1999; and indeed some blame television for a recent increase in crime. But St. Helena, of Napolonic fame, also only recent adopted television, with no great increase in violence.FriendlyFire said:Of course people have done extremely detailed studies in Mass media before. (not computer games but rather TV and movies)
There was a (backward but peaceful) country in which they had no TV, very peaceful, no crime, long history of buddist pacifist lifestyle. Just recently had electricity and running water.
Next thing comes satelite TV, Everyone gets a TV and watches it, Even the most poor households get one.
What do you know, violent crime, anti-socail dehaviour, youths out of control, crime rate up, first murder in living memory. Some of it is from clash of cultures but all researches conclude it is from TV.
