Actually, this is why I love English. Is there a better language for poetry, for instance?

Definately. ANY romance language will do the trick. Everything ends with vowels, making rhyming much easier.

Heck, even Latin, with its reduced need for prepositions and its lack of auxillary verbs, is a far better medium for poetry.
 
I agree in the sense that it is easier to make things SOUND good in romance languages. But no language can pack the layered meanings as deep as English. Also, though romance languages flow better, English is a fantastic language for cadence. Try reading the speaches of Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill aloud.

It all depends on what you want to do with poetry. Do your love songs in Spanish. For verse, use English.
