Widescreen resolution on Civ IV Windows 10

I instaled Civ IV on my laptop and it works fine, except that the resolution doesn't fit my screen. I can see eveeything, there are just sime annoying black thick bands on the side (like when you watch a movie in widescreen mode instead of in fullscreen, except that the bars are on the sodes, not on the top and bottom). I don't know where I can go to fix this. Any suggestions?

You should be able to set the resolution of the game to match your display screen. The setting is in the options screen of the game. Just pick the resolution that matches your computer's screen, from the drop down menu.

Search for CivilizationIV.ini in your My Documents folder, i.e My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini
You can manual select Width- and Height values in this text file.
