Armageddon
Chieftain
Ok, this is the strangest behavior I've seen from Civ, and it's only happened to me in this GOTM. Here's the general status:
Started the game fine. I started cranking out eagle warriors and charging about the countryside. Everything seemed fine, and I was causing enough of a ruckus that I wasn't behind in tech even though I was producing only military units under despotism.
When I encountered both the romans and chinese, they didn't appear in the diplomacy screen. The ?'s still remained, and I could only talk to them if I right-clicked on one of their units.
Ok, strange enough. But then it gets wierder -- I never switched from Despot at all, and endless cranked out warriors and/or swordsmen. About 500 AD I wiped out the last of the ZULU and secured the continent. I then discovered Currency (again, I've been in Despot the whole time), and Lo and Behold, I was suddenly in the next age of technology, researching Monotheism.
This was very odd since I'd only discovered about 1/2 the ancient tech tree, and didn't have the great library.
Whats stranger is that I then went to swtich governments, and wouldn't you know it, I did NOT have Republic -- AND, since I was in the next age, I had no way to research it on my own.
Furthermore, the only civs that showed up on the diplomacy screen at all were now wipped out, even though I knew that the romans, chinese, and indians remained, and had embassies with each.
I just quit the game figuring that it was screwed beyond repair, and certainly wasn't a fair submission, since I was researching stuff that I shouldn't really have access too. My advisor proclaimed that we were technologically advanced as well, LOL.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
