Hi all

Ive had to take civ off my works laptop (its complicated) and put it on my own laptop

which isnt brilliant specced, its 4gb ram, b997 processor (similar performance to Intel Core i3 3110M)

Oh and its win 8

I love big maps, but the laptop struggles once i hit about 1200ad.. basically once the cities are mostly down.

Id like to improve on that as i dont particularly enjoy small maps. But my options are limited- as its a laptop

One thing i have considered is a 256mb ssd, i can fit everything on it so could run it as my main disk

However im not sure it will actually speed the game up? Does anyone have experience of trying this? I suspect its purely processor limited..but im unsure.

Thanks

Ram is more important than disk. Run 64-bit mode and have at least 6 GB of RAM and Civ IV* will have 4 GB to itself.

* Civ IV BTS

Thanks! taking a break from bts now, but will try that! 8GB is one of the few things easily upgraded.

Thanks again
