Since Firaxis being all closed-mouthed about a Mac version and we can be pretty sure there will be no Linux version, has anybody seen or even done a test yet to see if Civ V will run under VirtualBox? The minimal spex would seem to imply that it will work, at least if the host computer has an i5 or i7 CPU with Nested Paging and enough RAM assigned to the guest Win XP system. Civ IV works but isn't really playable because of the graphics load. They seem to have done a better job of scaling that this time, though.

This will be one of the first things I'll be trying for VirtualBox and OS X. It would be nice of one of the people with a serious Linux system could try it out, too.

I never managed to get 3d acceleration with Virtual Box, but I didn't try a recent version.

I tried to install "CIV 5" under virtualbox but need at least 256MB of video memory.
The error is
"Application: civilizationv.exe, version 1.0.0.17, module: msvcr90.dll, version: 9.0.30729.1, error address: 0x000369de."

I will wait for the next version of VirtualBox

It apparently works in wine and crossover games w/o problems, which should eat up much less resources. So there is no need for a nix version. I think there is an OSX version of wine/crossover games too?
