Will going into space ever be a possibility?

Here I am again, the guy who back in 2012 made a lets play with around 30 episodes but stopped due to lack of being able to eventually enter space and visit other planets. I also am the one who started the massive humans vs humans game. Soon I quit totally when the audio quotes I made and coded into the game after spending weeks of my little free time got wiped...

Anyway I pop up every 6 months or so to see how "multimaps" (I think that's what you refer to it as) has been implemented yet allowing players to enter space and visit other planets once they have the technology to.

I've noticed you have been expanding the transhuman and more modern periods of the tech tree but has anything related to space travel been added yet? I'm not telling you to add it now or asap, I just want to know if any progress towards that goal has been made since I left.

Are there any plans to add these features in the future if they haven't been added already? Even if its not going to be within the next year or two?
 
Well there are two answers;

1. Maybe multimaps someday.

2. If you use C2C_Three_Planets map script then you can visit the Moon and Mars already. However its very unbalanced, the map generation for all 3 sub-maps are poor and animal spawns are very messed up. Not to mention any latitude specific buildings will be messed up due to the map being turned 90 degrees.
 
So are you closer than you were back in 2012 to multimaps? I mean it seems like you are already preparing the other planets which will be used but now a method to travel to them in-game needs be added.

Anyway glad to see this mod is still going and it's not dead. This mod is too awesome to die.
 
Hydro and I wanted to make a testing map to develope some stuff for space travel and extra terristic settlements and bases, but then we got distracted somehow... Plus, it would be way beyond our skills (at least most of it) so we'd need a lot of help... Are you still up for this Hydro?
 
Yes and no - the dll is almost ready but the UI is not.

I think I know what needs to be done for the display side but there are a bunch of skills I need but don't yet have and it involves CvMainInterface.Py which needs some work to make it cleaner before I try.

For release v35 I intend to mostly ignore everything else and work on that file. Step one will be the specialist area of the screen which should give me the requisite skills to at least know if I know enough to attempt the multi maps stuff.

Unfortunately at the moment I think that Nomadic Start and Superduper Forts UI will be easier than Multi maps but I could be wrong.

The 3 maps in one I am up to do next cycle if we want. But I have no idea how to do multimaps. Thus as you said the test map script is the next best thing to having multimaps.

Also as DH said things like the Nomadic Start, Superduper Forts, Combat Mod, River Mod, etc keep taking the Team's focus.
 
And they are all really worth it I guess! In fact, I'd prefer to see them in the mod more then multi maps since you would see them in much more games.

However, I'd like to work a bit on Space Stuff. Not multimaps obviously, but it would be nice if we can at least get a platform for adding and testing (like the 3 Maps). I made a three planets map and my original plan was to play it up to Rockets, so we could use this for testing. But eventhou it is in the PH era, we can use it to see if something works in general.

Unless fixed, two Lunar Terrains did not work and caused CTDs.

I believe AIAndy can help out just a little more lately, but not too sure yet, but he should know all about the MainInterface.py stuff.
 
If the interface isn't working properly could hot keys be temporary used to switch from earth view to space view to mars and moon? Say you launch a rocket into space then press alt + Shift + S to view the space map and you see your rocket in space. Then to enter a planet you move your spaceship over the tiles until you reach the desired planet tile such as the moon. When you land on the tile you enter the planet (lets say the moon) and then press alt + Shift + M to switch to that planets (in this case the moons) view.

Or am I way off the mark with not having the interface?
