will there be a 3th expansionpack or will it be civIV?

I'd like to see another Civ 4. Can this game take any more new changes?

Sure, with enough work

isn't there a hard-coded limit of 31 civs in civ3? so who would buy an expansion with no new civs? not me.

my money's on civ 4, a looong way down the road.

I would buy one with no more civs in the main game, if there were interesting scenarios. It should also have some new rules and additions.

What I want in the next expansion/ CIV4:

Do away with the hard coded linits on world map and number of civs or at least increase the limits.

More conquests and make them longer.

Another PTW style best of the net thing. (I do not know how to download stuff)

More ages. (no Future Age, I want the ages to be divided forming: ancient age, helenistic/roman age, dark age/feudal/middle age, renaisance/colonial age, early industral age, late industrial age, modern age.

More units.

More governments.

More wonders/ improvements, and make them show up on the city screne.

2 UUs.

No changes in certain areas. No fantasstic worlds or whatever style fighting, no future age, no civil wars, no senate.

They could make a new Age...

Yeah i agree they should have somthing after the "morden times".I think they should have the space age after the future techs, you could go into space and make Colonies.

It'll be Civ 4, its already confirmed.

Double Post, my bad.

I'd like to see an expansion pack which focuses on more advanced notions than "new units", but things like introducing civil wars, struggles for independance, government initiatives and so forth. And I mean beyond the Civ 2 shicms and CTP AI revolt.

I dunno, make a settler-type unit that doesn't suffer from such bad corruption when you build it on a different continent, but then the more cities you build on the continent the greater hance that they'll revolt. Give 'em a common identity, and include multiple paths for independence to happen and benefits towards the parent-country for the way they act, throw in some world opinion and there ya go. How hard can it be? ;)

Plus whatever's needed to allow more variability in scenarios :)

I'd like the map to join North/South as well as East/West.

Curious as to why... on a map, up is (generally) north, in other words, toward the north pole... The entire top line of the map is a projection of the single point that is the top of the globe... crossing that line takes you to a corresponding point at the top of the map... say, north from Asia, across the north pole, to the northern reaches of North America.

As far as what is actually relevant to the topic... I JUST bought Civ III. I could definitely go for a more robust trading system. I think the idea about the Civil Wars is pretty neat too... however, they would have to be relatively rare occurences, or it would be absolutely ANNOYING.

I would have bought PTW even if it had had no new civs. I do not have C3C yet, but I intend to get it, and would still if it contained no new civs.

The game doesn't work terribly well with huge numbers of civs anyway ('tleast not on this sub-fantastic computer), so having more than 16ish civs is just icing on the cake; the changes I really care for are the new units (witness my Avatar! :D), the new improvements, and above of all the increased scenario/mod support.

C3C is simply awesome, to those that haven't heard that already. I wouldn't mind another expansion pack while we eagerly await for Civ4. More scenarios definitely for the next expansion pack, if it comes out, but save those graphic upgrades for Civ4!!!

There are slots for 32 players (actually, 31 + barbs). Doesn't limit it to 32 civs, just 32 playing at the sames time. It would take a serious code re-write to add any more in, because there are a lot of 32-bit sections that are bit-wise for the civ IDs.
