Will there be a demo before or after the release?

Has any info been released on the subject? Has anyone seen anything about it?
As the release of the game is close now, it wouldn't be to much to ask for someone to enlighten us, would it?! :mischief: The folks at Firaxis must be aware of the plans now, perhaps even working on it if there will be one.

Hopefully before game is out, I need demo to check things first hand before I decide to buy.

Age of Empries III released a demo out of the blue. Hopefully Civ IV will also... I mean, it would certainly be nice.

How can you make a demo of civ, if you alowe one thing you have to allow everything, the closest thing to a demo would be several cisa on a small island with a cripples tech tree (wich imho would not be fun to play)

I believe the demo for Civ3 was the whole game(huge download) that had I think a 1 or 2 hour time limit then it would go dead and leave a corruption file if you ever deleted and tryed to re-installed.

It would certanly nice to have a demo, but it is OK even without it.

There ought to be a demo and it should be released before the game ships. I think it does a disservice to a company not to let people see how their game works before asking them to buy it; that's not just my opinion for Civilization IV, but any game. Alot of people I know (including me, if it was a different title) wouldn't buy a game until they played the demo.

In addition, I liked the 2-3 hour full game demo for Civilization III. Never saw any cracks for it so the protections had to have worked. Right now, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't release one for Civ4.

The AoE3 demo isn't very polished (My priests walk where they are rotated to the side and not touching the ground  )

If they do realase the demo I hope it will have a greater standard of quality then the AoE3 one.

And without half the screen being the hud.

Demo pfft, this is 2005, not 1995. There will be no demo. Not that I mean that in a good way :( I miss shareware.

Again, I think Firaxis would be ill-advised not to issue a demo for a game that is so widely hyped. If they are looking to sell millions, they'll help themselves along by releasing a teaser for the game.

Have you played the BF2 demo? ;)

Way ahead of you. I did and now I own it

However, multiplayer FPS games have retained the "demo culture" more than most other genres.
