Will we ever get an expansion pack?

I am very sure there's going to be an expansion, but I am also certain it will come in 2018 because I'm just as certain that XCOM 2 will get a proper expansion this year and Firaxis don't want to release two products that would compete against each other in a short timeframe.

From Civ 3 on, every iteration of Civ had 2 addons. So I hope they do not break with this tradition. Maybe they should also try another Colonization, based on the Civ 6 - engine and rules.

I hope they do break the tradition and give us three expansions.

If there's a spin off, I'd rather have a (better done) Beyond Earth 2 or Alpha Centauri remake with Civ VI graphics and rules than a colonization remake again.

And what @Leyrann said

The last Civilization remake was so bad it doesn't count if you exclude modding.

(Religion & Revolution made it a great game though)

They could do a (global) colonization mechanic + independance war scenario + railroads / industrialisation / corporations mechanics + civil war scenario.

Usually they add a bunch of new civs, some buildings and wonders. In this case maybe also a new district. Now with the de-stacked cities, if there are new wonders you will need to found/conquer more cities to be able to place them since cities quickly run out of usable tiles in Civ 6.

dropped back to king in my last game and won before turn 200. I know the better players out there could probably do it by turn 150 or so but to me in the 190's is saying "you've outgrown king"

Yes king is just a non princely sum above prince.
Emperor is the real jump and immortal is a slightly harder emporer

I dropped back to emperor and the games are fun but pretty much won from the start unless mistakes are made or too many choices go wrong. Great for testing diplomacy better on.

190 is good though, what victory type?
How many cities?

domination. Standard map size. Standard speed. Continents. I honestly couldn't tell you number of cities in the end. I think something may have bugged, it was very odd. After conquering my continent, who, while still early in the game, seemed to be progressing at a normal pace, I went to to look for the rest of the Ai. When I found them (3 civs) though they all seemed to have stalled at around 25 science per turn and only 5ish cities I hadn't played at king for a while so I dont know if that's a normal progression for the Ai or not. I should have won sooner, but the easy early progress made me over confident. It's the only game I've played where an Ai had a navy. I lost a number of units in transit because I got swamped by 5 or 6 privateers near their coast. My only harbours were conquered cities on the opposite side of the map so to get my ships online and in the area took too long

I have been playing mostly emperor, which is challenging for me until mid game, but, I find they are won early also. I think that early aggression I take into emperor is just too much for king level. The Ai head start is eaten into too quickly

People prefer the first half of the game to the last half. Ancient civilizations are more interesting than building submarines, etc.

They should do a 'Colonizaiton' like game, only call it 'Ancient Civilization' and have it run from 4000 BC to 1200 AD. Not just CiVI with 'half the game missing' but add more mechanics and things to do to build your anicent civilization.

People would go nuts for a Civ style game that focuses on Sumeria, Babylon, Hittites, etc.

This sounds like @Rob (R8XFT)'s Anno Domini mod.. played it a lot for 5, waiting for the game to be fleshed out more to try it in 6

Would be really necessary to get me back to playing. I have almost 800hrs played in Civ5, but Civ6 lost me after me first victory...The AI is just too dumb and diplomacy sadly is non-existant...

That game sounds tailor made for me; please make it so. :D

Try it again. The AI improved a lot since launch.

There's a bit of speculation round here that it's Railroad Tycoons turn for a Civ type remake... Then I do love the real time game, so I dunno...
