Does anyone here show any charachter? I like to earn what I get so I know that , indeed I am unquestionably the best player in the world.
In a recent game, the other player walked into my capital at 3700 bc and ended the game with 1 unit? He reported this win. I never, ever, would have. It was pointless. It was not earned and it was stupid of him to do so as I will never ever play this individual again. It showed a complete lack of charchter. It was weezilly.
In another game, I made a strategic alliance with a player, and he moved 1 horseman into my area. He lined up 2 of my citys and took them both ending the game for me, again with one unit via a very weasily act of breaking the alliance.(which by the way, it was my understanding that all units returned to thier home citys when it was broken, but this is beside the point) Then this person laughed about it and I will no longer play him anymore either. Just another unearned victory.
So to all you that think this acceptable, I say get a life and get some freaking charachter.

A win is a win, my friend, whether you believe it is earned or not. If they had been cheating, perhaps I would agree with you. But as it is, you sound like a very naive individual with a moral superiority complex.

The first game you described is a fair game. There are no rules against start a war early on. And you should've known to defend your city.

I hate people that ally then attack you. But what can you do? This happens in real world too. Countries lie to each other and take advantage of alliance. I think it's better for the units not to go back after a player unallies. It's more realistic. What you could do is tell him to move his unit away from your city. If he doesn't do so or seems to have a valid reason for that unit to be there, have a military unit of your own defending the city just in case he pulls something.

Learn from your mistakes. Complain doesn't help. I believe both games are fair.

I'm not an MP expert, but my though would be to visit the MP Forum and find out what is the "expected" etiquette. From what I've read, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there in MP! And if you lie down with the dogs, you're gunna get up with fleas!

well..I guess you could call it a win.Not much of a game though.I would want to play again right away as only 5 minutes would have elapsed.I thought there was a 10 or 15 turn rule in which you could declare a restart?...maybe that was Gameleague......or maybe it was the old CivLeague...organized competitve play was a bust for me.Not exactly for that reason...but....

I guess you learned that units aren't sent home in an alliance break when a human is at the helm. Now you will be turned off alliances....oh well...at least you can cross a name off the X-mas card list:)

My seldom used sig says it all.You found out what a bad one is like....it ain't always that way

I agree, though I think it is very boring for both you and the opponent to end the game in only 10 turns.

Certain crowds play this incredibly dull way. And by playing with this crowd, what else could you expect? Especially with that ridiculous ego.

BTW, you spelled assassin wrong genius :p

People talk about LOSING games within a few turns, but I'm the only one I know who'se beaten a game in 4 (count 'em, 4) turns.

Difficulty: Chieftain
Barbs: Villages Only
Map: World - Small
My Civ: French
Other Civs: English, Spanish.
Rules: Bloodlust, Select Computer Opponents

First turn: walked west 1 tile
Second turn: marched south 1 tile into Madrid; killed Spanish
Third turn: walked north 1 tile
Fourth turn: marched north 1 tile into London; killed English

Of course, it was deliberately easy and kind of unfair, seeing as how there wasn't enough time to have any units other than settlers, but it's still an accomplishment in my book. :D

:egypt:
Sorry but both are technically fair wins. My philosophy is "If you would do it to the AI then you can do it to anyone"
Frankly i dont like the idea but there is always retribution
:ripper: :rocket2: :rocket3: :sniper: :ak47: :tank:

Like my gameplay, i overkill a bit
:p

So you're not very good at Civ. What's the problem?
If you didn't think of building defensive troops in an MP game then what the heck were you building? Another human player will always seize the chance to exploit your weakness and it would appear that your opponent did. Would you be moaning if the AI did this to you as well? I apologise for seeming callous and cynical but I find your reaction almost as funny as your defeats.

I've not played an MP game as yet but if I did I'd hate it to last 30 seconds - it does seem a bit pointless. However, there are no rules in war games and if you leave yourself open to such attack you have to deal with the consequences.

I play a bit of Command & Conquer online and I hate it when someone airdrops a killer unit in my base within seconds, but then that is what the game is about and it's kill or be killed from the outset. I don't tend to do the same becuase I like the long tactical battle.

Maybe I'll get online for a few MP battles and see what tactics people play.

My friend, if someone breaks an alliance is his problem and it's totally legal, not cheating. It's part of the game. You have to know who you can rely on and who you can not. If you don't know if a player is going to break an alliance what you have to do is never give the back to him!! Don't let him be in a position that can destroy you. As I told you before I think it's part of the game.

You are "unquestionably the best player in the world?"

If you don't defend your cities, somebody will sack them. It's a basic tenet of the game. Was it a tactless move? Maybe, but that's debatable. You should look at this as a learning experience, not as a source for whining. You got your bum kicked!

It sounds childish to not ever play those individuals again. What would show "character," which you seem to prize so highly, is to go back and crush them in a rematch.

BTW, I think it was acceptable, and I happen to have a rich life. And a strong moral character to boot.

"Trust, but Verify!" .... "DEFEND YOURSELF!!"

Note: Quote 1 is Ronald Wilson Reagan's (to the Soviets & free world), and #2 is Worf's (from Star Trek, TNG, when practicing combat)... both are good axioms for you ;).

PS, "Revenge is a dish best served COLD..." (Kahn, STM2). Get even!!

I wouldn't have crushed them...well, not militarically. Just economically.

If it was a multiplayer game, I'd just be demanding money every time they get some :)

Exploitation is the best :)

i think that it is earned if he found you, and took your undefended city, he won't wait for you to build defending units, a win is a win.

The most important thing is to learn from every game you play and see where you can improve your game play. Hopefully next time you will make sure that your city can be defended.
