Now this is wierd. There are 5 user accounts on my computer. After installing Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, QuickTime (and Media Player Classic) now only work on one account (my account), but won't function at all on the other 4 (all user accounts have administrator privileges). Media Player Classic will start up abd then immediately shut down again, whilst QuickTime won't open whatsoever.

Uninstall SP2 and see if they work. Cos they probably will.

Or turn the XP firewall off and then see if they work.

Solution:
1. Uninstall Quicktime altogether.
2. Install Quicktime Alternative.

You should do that even if you don't have XP.

EDIT: Oh wait, I see you're running Media Player Classic - maybe you do have it installed. Good for you! Hmm.. have you tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of the software?

I've no idea what that is, sorry

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools (use an admin account) | Event Viewer.

Once the viewer is launched, choose the Application node. Any application crashes that Windows detected got logged here. There could be a ton of logs here already... so right-click on Application node and select Clear All Events.

Then try to reproduce the error and check the log again.

It might contain information that helps solve the case.
