One of the best things about Civ 2 was that it ran in windowed mode as opposed to fullscreen mode. The advantage of that was that you could talk to people on instant messaging and do other things in between turns without having to alt+tab your way out of the game. It was a really nice feature and so I would like it back for Civ IV if at all possible... :goodjob:

Wow, glad someone said it! I totally forgot how much this was such a great feature to have.

Windowed would be a good feature. Note that the the Gamebryo engine which is most likely used in Civ4 runs a little slower in windowed mode as opposed to full screen.

So just have it so you can switch between those types of modes. I really liked the windowed mode in civ2\civ1, plus it makes it easyer to look up city names for your game

Um, Croxis, games were being made at that time which did not use windowed modes. Battle Isle 3, for example, was a windows 3.1 game that did not (and could not) use windowed mode.

a cool idea, would make chatting and surfing during playing Civ3 (reading the War Academy while playing hehe) much easier.

I see some issues (scrolling a bit harder perhaps), but people should really have the choice.

I don't have much probem with full screen but if they can give the option of windowing it without sacrificing anything else then i wouldn't mind if they made it that way.

I have a problem with fullscreen mode. I play on a Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop with a 15.4" WUXGA (UltraSharp 1920x1200) screen. Needless to say, this system can only just cope with the graphics at 1024x768, and that res stretched to 1920x1200 looks.... bad.

I love playing games on this laptop in windows mode... I play WoW, SWG, SC4 all in windowed mode, and they look great, while leaving me room to do other things like chat and read forums while playing.

Windowed mode is a must! I would really really love it for Civ 4.

Then turn it on since it is included.

i would love to have that back as well. its nice to be able to "multi-task" while waiting on the AI to do its thing.

However, since after every build i have to chose another build, there is much lag time in between moves anymore.
