Windows problem.

My older sister got a computer from somewhere, but it doesn't have an authentic copy of Windows. Now the computer doesn't work, asking for an authentic copy. She now has one, but can't make it work.

Call Microsoft, tell them your computer crashed and you need to get a new authentication code to re-install it on your computer. Then you should be good.

She did that, but they never helped.

Did she tell them that she bought a copy, put it on her comp. once, then that comp crashed and she needs to put an OS on there? Then they will help you.

Not 100% sure how WGA works when it detects an illegal copy, but I'd say you'll probably have to reinstall windows with the new (legal) copy.

are you getting to the Windows login screen then it says you need to register to get into Windows?

if that's the case then you'll need to fdisk it and start over

What's fdisl?

fdisk is a program that comes as part of windows and it's when you load windows up in DOS and format the HD. Just start over essentially

I don't think it can work at the moment. When I went over what she thought was the discs for Windows ended up being Office.

You're just going to have to reformat the hard drive, and
install from scratch. If she has any data she wants to keep, you're going to have to put the HD on another system as a slave disk, and burn what you want to save to
a CD before doing the format.
