With whom you've actually won a game?

According to Steam:
Russia
Songhai
Arabia
India
China
Japan
Ottomans
Inca
Byzantines
Celts
Maya
Netherlands
Morocco
Venice
Korea

Huh. I actually thought I had more. Oh well, just means I need to work harder.

I just have a few left to beat the game with. All of them I find somewhat boring to play... This civs are:

Ethiopia - Awful colors, bad music, boring UA & UU
Korea - Same bad colors and music, even more boring UA and UU:s
Venice - I have probably not played long enough to enjoy the very diffrent playstyle that comes with Venice.
Japan - The least dull of the remaining ones. I don't know why but I always get stuck, bored and quit my Japan games somewere in the endgame. Got one going with them right now though that I'll probably finish. Huge techlead + autocracy! :crazyeye:

Master of the Universe
Beat the game on any difficulty setting with each leader. Unlocked: Oct 5, 2012 4:27pm

Might just be for vanillia toughj , since i only have 7 gnk leaders (bouddica attila wilhelm theodora pacal gustavus haile) and 6 bnw(pedro ahmad casimir poca enrico) . Can t seem to remember who s missing but a few (harald) still do :)

I have won with all except Zulu, Morocco, Assyria, Sweden, the Celts, and Byzantium. 2000+ hours, and I have never even attempted a scenario.

All of them, ancient era start on standard maps. There were some that I found very trying and never revisited and others that felt too op and never revisited. I couldn't stand my Brazil game, nothing interesting at the beginning in a super low production jungle start bias, finishing that was the toughest. It got decent later after tourism kicked in but by that point I just wanted it to be over. Spawning musicians during Carnival was pretty cool though. Never saw such powerful musicians.

Egypt--science--ancient powers game
England--culture--sea powers game
Sweden--diplomacy--G&K nations game

I would suspect that many beginner players choose America first because MURKA.

Not a bad thing really, America is a great civ to learn the game with. It doesn't ask you to do anything odd like Venice and doesn't give you any crutches like Poland or Babylon.

Immortal/deity: Poland, Korea, Shoshone, Inca.

Everything else: Byzantium (90% of my King-Emperor plays... those were the days!), Ethiopia, Celts, Egypt, Mongols, Japan, Babylon.

So, for 700 hours of play, it is clear that I'm not adventurous.

My tally (one new civ added to the list following a very quick duel game today):

Vanilla:

England
France
Greece
Songhai
Arabia
Persia
India
Siam
China
Iroquois

DLC:

Babylon
Denmark
Inca
Korea

Gods & Kings:

Austria
Maya
Sweden

Brave New World:

Assyria (today's victory)
Indonesia
Venice

Scenarios:

1066: Normandy, Norway
Wonders of the Ancient World: Hittites

That's actually more than I'd have expected - I've played a few civs I've never won as due either to not finishing the game or simply not winning, among them America, Germany, Byzantium, Carthage, Morocco, Russia, Shoshone and Spain. Strangely I haven't got the achievement for winning as Ethiopia, though I was fairly sure I had won with them.

I've also won the Mongolian scenario (so I got credit for the Mongol achievement), two of the civs within the Polynesia civ (I forgot which ones); and as Korea in the Korean scenario.

I've only played 1066, Wonders of the Ancient World, Korea, Fall of Rome, the Polynesia scenario (always forget the name) and Conquest Deluxe. I abandoned Korea and Fall of Rome partway through, lost Polynesia and Deluxe, and 1066 is the only scenario I've played more than once.

That's surprisingly somehow, since most of the people here seems to think America as the most boring civ of the game. Anyways, considering that most of the Steam players are Americans..

I'd have expected Greece to be no. 1, since you get that achievement for beating the tutorial - in fact I think that's still the only game I've played as Greece.

Strange, Ethiopia and Korea are among my favourite colour palettes in the game! And I like the Korean UUs.

It took me several attempts to get the Venice achievement, not because I was losing games, but because I just kept giving up it was so tedious and the game so easy. However, having since played OCC with the Maya I wonder if it's just the OCC playstyle that's boring rather than the civ itself. The only civ I've quit in record time due to boredom was Brazil, though I too have quit Japan games due to boredom.

I can remember every one of them hehe :D

Well I've had a victory with a couple of civilizations using random. Here's it is:
Poland
Arabia
Zulu
America
Polynesia
Egypt
Russia
the huns
the Netherlands
the Shoshone (only Deity victory btw)
Morocco
Venice
Greece
Siam
Indonesia
Denmark
Assyria
Spain
the Iroquois
Carthage
Brazil
celts
Germany
Aztec
mayans

America
England
France
Germany
Rome
Egypt
Arabia
Persia
Siam
China
Japan
Iroquois
Aztecs
Korea
Huns
Polynesia

I suppose it could be worse, I don't have BNW which explains the absence of some.

Prince-level noob here:blush:
To be strict, if I won the game by rerolling the turn at some point, I`ll consider this game as a lost one.

Arabia
China
Germany
Greece
Indonesia
Japan
Korea
Polynesia
Portugal
Russia
Spain
The Aztecs
The Huns
The Maya

I've won with every civ at least once. I always go after achievements so this is basically required.

Well, there are a lot of achievements, and for some you'll often need several tries with a civ. Inspired to go achievement-hunting after my Assyria game this morning, I rolled another and ended up with Persia (I almost always use random leaders) - I'd already won with Persia, but didn't have the Achmaenid to Sassafid achievement so focused on earning that rather than winning (and did, indeed, lose to an Arab culture victory) - and also got Soma Tablets for Everyone in the process.

What I'm not sure about is why I've never earned the Appian Way, Paul Bunyan and similar achievements - I've played around 900 hours so must have built more than 1,000 roads etc. by now.

I've got somewhere between 600 and 700 hours. Like most, I've actually won more games than I have the achievement for, but I get bored, especially in domination games when it is really just a matter of time. The full list as to which I have the achievement:

England
Polynesia
Maya
Russia
France
China
Egypt
Poland
Babylon
Celts
Hittites
Confederacy

I just need to log in and finish Portugal, Shoshone and Venice, all of which I could probably win in another ten turns or so. Portugal is going domination or space, whichever comes first, Shoshone is going space or culture, whichever comes first, and Venice is going domination or diplomatic, whichever comes first.

Time Played: 3,208 hours

Steam Achievements

I did all my "win as" achievements on King although some where time Victories (most points after turn 500). If I did another achievement on a lower difficulty I went back and won on King.

Most of my incomplete achievements are scenario achievements.
