I guess now it’s time to catch up in replies after that huge delay… So here goes:
what i meant was, base on your descriptions, it seems you first traded for railroads, and then stole it again. how did you do that?
My descriptions must be poor, because that can’t happen. I probably was saying stole the NEXT tech again.
Steal tech A, trade it for tech B, then steal tech C.
I take it from the response that the strategy is significantly harder or untenable without the Phi or Ind traits? It's not a question of efficiency. I don't always wage constant war as Genghis Khan because it's not always advisable to do so.
Would the strat be doable without these traits? The answer is no?
I’m not going to say no, because anything is possible. While you COULD do it with Japan (Protective-Aggressive), you are correct, it would be more problematic to do so. And you also would not be using your traits very well, which goes against the main principal of maximizing your traits.
On the other hand, if you’re playing monarch then it’s no real concern. You could use any leader without worry in that spot.
Why on earth would you work unimproved tiles???
As always, it comes down to a matter of TIME & tech-tree structure.
Also, doesnt constant Slavery risk revolts in BTS?
Yes, and I REALLY DO HATE THAT!
I'd really like to see some of the saves to have a dig and see exactly where all the economy is coming from.
I looked at the old HD and I see a folder where I THINK I have the saves backed up still. So I will try to post them shortly.
How do you get your railroads so nice and neat?
I use the RAILROADING worker-promotion. Gives +1 ‘charm’ to railroad tiles.
You may be able to get the data off with a USB to IDE(ribbon) cable.
I got lucky. There was one IDE socket on the board. I plugged the old HD into it, and I worked (phew). I’ll still have to toy with it to get my old dvd IDE into there too, but for now I’m happy with what I have.
"Diplomatically" nuking the world, huh? That's certainly an interesting way to get cities and capitulations on an intercontinental basis.
Yes, it doesn’t quite seem to make sense when you think of it that way. But very little of Civ does. I basically couldn’t lose this game when I nerfed Egypt, so decided to just experiment and see what could happen.
I just have one question. In your games I see that you mainly use tanks and/or nukes in late game wars. What do you do in terms of military in the beginning and mid stages of the game? Do you build up masses of, say riflemen and use them solely for defense, or not bother to build military until tanks come along?
I war very little in the beginning, unless you count attacking barb cities as warring. The odd time when an opportunistic situation comes, like a person sandwiched between me and another is at war, I may jump into the fire, but generally I try to work peacefully.
Most my military build-ups is because THREAT assesment tells me I may get hit soon, or because I am debating on hitting someone in the near future, to block a victory that may come in before I am finished with my own.
