wonder icon for the internet

Hi all,
in the radio broadcast about Firaxis on radio (take a look at the media stuff on their site), one of the people working on Civilization IV is interviewed about using 3DMax and Photoshop to create icons for world wonders. They´re using Al Gore for the "internet" wonder, "but certainly can´t keep him" - which is a pity. Imo they should leave him in, it´d be fun ;-)

I don't know the details either, but, according to some trivia game from the mid-90s (well before the election), it said that Al Gore coined the phrase "Information Superhighway" (of course, nobody uses that phrase any more, so it doesn't matter ). Also, iirc, Gore said "took steps to help create the internet", or something like that.

It's actually a misquote that got way out of hand. Nobody can really cite the speech where he said he invented the internet.

It seems as though politics is a lot like the school yard. It doesn't matter if it's true -- it just matters if you get enough people repeating it.

One of the things I absolutely LOVE about Firaxis is that they have a huge sense of humor (look at the bottom line of my sig). The only other big company I know that has a sense of humor is probably Google.

The exact quote that Gore said:

"During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

Its a simplification to say that Gore said he created the internet. Of course, Gore takes credit for the idea of the internet.
