Just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of this mod. Already have a couple hundred hours on steam and v40 was a massive performance boost over v39 so great job.

My question is I'm wondering if world units are a little too powerful. I'm currently playing on Emperor difficulty and I did manage to get an early lead by around the start of the ancient era. I conquered a few civs with elephants, but now in mid classical I have enough cultures that I'm running around with a doom stack of about 8-10 world units and some siege and support units. The game is basically over. I don't see a way the stack can be stopped. Even earlier in the game when I had a single upgraded world unit and some support I could whittle down a city with 20+ defenders. It just took time.

In my previous v39 game my conquering strategy also revolved around a stack of world units. Maybe the "problem" is more about getting an early lead, allowing me to get the first crack at research and culture production. But it does seem like world units have a combination of raw strength advantage over contemporary units and extremely powerful upgrade options. Just 2-3 upgraded world units can self heal and kill unlimited vanilla units, especially since the AI seems reluctant to attack en mass.

There are certainly some balance issues in that and its something thats about a step 2 - step 3 part of the unit review project I'm taking on right now. They should be strong and cool but yes, sometimes they are too strong and too cool and they take literal hordes of units to overcome, if its even possible given the mobility they can be infused with. On Size Matters, they fill a niche role and aren't really that out of whack, maybe out of reality a bit but not too imbalancing. Without SM, I found they CAN be highly imbalancing to the point that you could just send some of them out into the field to win an entire war for you.

Yeah I've found that they are almost exclusively how I win wars. Maybe I will try size matters for my next game. I've been looking to try out some different settings.

I thought they had been made weaker (previously I was not using SM) - until reading this post. Yes - SM takes away the overpowering strength they seem to have, if not using SM.

World Units? What is a "World Unit"? Do you mean Heroes?
