Not kidding, every single Civ attempted to escape to the space to avoid the wrath of my panzers. I had to shift gears and join in the space race despite having access to XCOM Squads.

If it wasn't for me going tall and specalizing my cities early on to spawn Great Scientists, I would've never made it when I started in medieval era because I decided to go tall and attempt world domination with panzers. Terrain was very hostile toward wars so it was good to put it on wait anyways.

Almost every turn I was getting notifications that Civs has built a space part.

I was staring at this which made me abandon world domination and shift to space race.

Yeah that's right, even the Zulus is on to it.

And several turns later, it came down to very close.
Just as alot of civs was finishing their fifth piece....

What's that I see in my capital?
Something that took me only six something turns to build.
It was completed on exactly same turn as other civs finished their fifth piece. :crazyeye:

I beat everyone to Alpha Centauri and not even the Civs will be safe there because I will be attempting world domination there too but with me getting first dibs on resources.. its gonna be rough for the ais. :king:

Oh and Brazil went freedom, it felt sweet xD
And demographics if anyone cares.

That was seriously my first time that I saw so many Civs attempting to win a space race in an attempt to beat me. Seriously, that many civs, if i tried to pull a world domination on them i would've lost. I just had to give up on killing everyone for time being and launch the spaceship before they do it.

Is this common occurrence for you guys on higher difficulty than king?

Its almost like, they saw their odds at beating me up in a war and didn't like it so they worked together to beat me to the space, oh and everyone hates me. Almost everyone is Order.

Me and Zulus is Autocracy.

Brazil and uh someone else I forgot who is Freedom.

And what's more, Assyria, they was my friend right up to the very end until the last five turns where they finally let the friendship dissolve and refuse to renew it. And after it has expired, they decided to denounce me.
Not bad at all considering that it took them to see me nearing space race victory to finally decide to break friendship with me. But again, I went to practically every war Assyrians started. Helped them out alot xD They was a major world power until industrial era and then just stagnated and lost cities to other civs until I came to their rescue.

Despite the Assyrian stagnation, they managed to finish bunch of SS Boosters before I launched the spaceship.

Edit: Forgot to mention that AI civs managed to not lose complete control of United Nations, I have to keep on fighting with AIs over on what to ban and what to pass. IF they unified in their votes against me, I won't be able to get anything passed until I kill off some more Civs XD I pass some stuff, they all pass some stuff. Was funny because I actually raged over this start like 1-2 weeks ago.

Ended up being one of the most interesting maps I've played on.

The original rage thread.

never seen this in any of my games. looked like fun! wish it happened more often. in my games usually only 1 civ besides me decides to go space. If they get too close, they get a nuke from me to slow them down.

The most I have ever seen is 4 others complete space race, and only 2 others with a legitmate chance to complete. Very cool, and something different for a change.

wow! THat is awesome. I have Never seen this.

Even on my Deity game only 1 other civ was attempting the space race with me. Everyone else was too busy tearing up each other and fighting endless wars. I'm not sure what victory they wanted. I owned every CS and they just stopped trying to get them back after a while. 9 turns after the space victory I kept playing and won a diplomatic victory. I checked culture but only one person had ever attempted it and I flattened them when I saw their tourism skyrocketing (closest neighbors AND Korea...couldn't risk it). So you caused them all to attempt by fighting wars so late into the information era? I can't get them to keep up is my problem...usually only 1 or 2 civs is near my tech level and they usually use their advantage to start killing civs that are behind. Maybe I just need a bigger army. I had no idea their choices would be so affected by the size and disposition of your army. Good for them! My faith in AI is restored. :)

Well now that I have good night's sleep I can remember more of what happened on the map.

In ancient/classical era, my warriors/brutes was roaming the jungles then all of suddenly Assyria dow'd on Siam and flattened his capital.

That was enough to win me over to his side I asked him for BFF?! Assyria was like eh.. Sure!

And my trade partners is Inca/Ethopia, I failed to found a religion. Ethopia forced his religion on me becuase he hated my guts. But... he picked a religious reform that let you buy science buildings with faith. Its powerful o.o Which ended up to being my advantage and probably kept me in the game. XD Its only reason why i was able to build the Oxford university lawl.

Then me and Assyria bulllied everyone around us basically, India was constantly losing cities to both of us. And then Assyria went back and finished Siam off, kicking him out of the game.
And around this time Zulus showed up and wiped out the last of greek's cities.

Then all the warmongering went on hold cuz everyone was busy developing land cuz it was so damn bad.

Then industrial era arrived and assyria's power waned as Poland went and took all the siamese cities from Assyria. I didn't want assyria to get wiped out so I rushed all the cavalry/cossacks I had from southern border with India until they reached my capital then upgraded to landships and charged them all recklessly into exsiamese cities. I also had ww2 infantry at this time as well.

Poland was fielding WW1 Infantry and Hussars, this didn't go very well for him.

I swiftly took the exsiamese cities for myself and made peace with poland.

Then went and attacked the HUns because I want my capital to be connected to the ocean. At this point, I already had three canals set up, including my capital. And huns hate my guts cuz of all the warmongering I did. Eh so Naturally he had to go if I wanted to be able to build ships in my capital and send them to the ocean. After wiping him out with panzers/ww2 infantry and dessys/battleships.

It was around this point I began to suffer from civil resistance due to tourism, I started the culture race very late due to my start. But proper use of diplomats, musicians, and artifacts/landmarks helped mitigate it to making my citizens content.

This didn't make Egypt very happy so he got World Ideology of Order passed to my anger. I didn't have enough votes to repeal it. So I'm stuck with Dissidents for long time XD At the screenshot I still have about 36 unhappy from dissidents.

Basically order civs tried to wipe out the freedom/autocracy civs.

But Assyria went order in attempt to kiss butt, order civs wasn't having none of it and kept on dowing on assyria. This probably was one of reasons why assyria stayed friends with me for so long time until end of the game where he finally broke up with me. :( Despite me being a full blown autocratic xD

Then Denmarks, he went order as well but for some reason, the order civs hated his guts and he was almost wiped out by the time I launched the space ship.

And I remember it now, Brazil and Netherlands went freedom.

Meanwhile, at same time, Order civs was actively trying to murder Zulus but failing miserably plus Brazil and Netherland at same time.

And Brazil managed to annex most of the Denmark's cities. Ha.
As that was happening, Zulus is slowly winning the war against netherlands.

And those inland seas you see.. me, inca, ethopia and Netherlands been abusing the canals I set up for lucrative sea trade routes! And what's more, they're actually safe from being pillaged ha! I haven't had a single ship pillaged despite all the wars I got in because AI suck at war, and I profited hugely from safe sea routes while pillaging AI's sea routes at same time lols.

yes that's only reason why I haven't killed off Inca, Ethiopia. After all, why kill the goose that lays golden eggs for you. I suspect the same for them on why they haven't dow'd me either.

I think several civs tried to get culture victory but I managed to protect myself good. Noone is influencing me except for the World Ideology's Order's two points of pressure.

Then I dow'd on Poland and wiped them out, and it was roughly around this time that SS boosters started to get built in almost all civs.

Good thing I had prebuilt the apollo and spaceship production facility in advance then left them to gather dust. SS Engine was only thing I haven't researched yet. But I managed to fix that in about 22 turns I can't believe I built a spaceship so fast while using only four cities.

I experienced alot of science thefts. But I killed alot of Spies in my capital at same time.

This probably about sums it all up.

That map looks amazing, could you save the map and upload it? Its on the save menu, lower left of hte window.

WHat settings did you use?

This map uses a mod, will saving the map and give it to you be fine or would it require you to download the mod in question?

The mod in question is simply a map generation script.

Because vanilla firaxis maps is boring.

Very epic. What dificulty level is this? I play on Emperor, and on that level, AI is never a contender for science vicory. They do frequently finish apollo project, and ocassionally I will even see top AI start building SS Boosters, but I can't remember if I ever saw them getting any further than that. Usually I will have won DV way before they reach this point. :undecide:

Difficulty is set to King.

And victory conditions disabled is Time and Diplomatic. Cuz Diplomatic is ridiculously easy most of the times. SO that left only Culture, Science and Domination as possible avenues for victory xD

That's a close science victory win. King difficulty already seems so difficult, doesn't it? I have had a science victory myself as well. However you had the screenshots to prove your victory which should be good for you.

Epic space race aside, you got an interesting land shape. Is it Fractal map?

What's the name of the mod you were using? I want maps that look that cool.

Has anyone ever achieved domination victory on a huge map with standard speed? Turn times on my rig prevent me from attempting it.

Edit - Perhaps a mod that doubles every units' movement points and increases the min distance between cities would make this more enjoyable...AI would obviously be at a greater disadvantage though...

I have won domination victory on a huge map on standard map several times already. It just requires you to have patience.

Tectonics Map Script V.3 by a guy named Haftetavenscrap.. You can find him on steamworkshop on the steam.

The way worldmaps look like is almost always different. It is completely unpredictable compared to fractal's predictability. I can always guess what world looks like in fractal easily.

But This mod.. the tectonics map script v.3 by haftetavenscrap, I never truly know what the world looks like unless I manage to explore alot with caravels and frigs. But for this map, I was basically landlocked until modern era and even then I didn't quite know what world looked like until i launched an satellite and I was surprised to see that it was an Pangaea for the whole time.

Here, some of my older threads so that you know what I mean. World's always different.

See how different each world is? Don't it just look like it's a real planet do it?!

Biggest problem with firaxis map scripts is that they fail to feel like real world.

And the mod map script actually put word Exploration back in Exploration!

I guess I should put it in my sig now..
