Worst named Arena/Stadium

Southampton moved from there to their new stadium called St. Mary's.

I think the Stadium of Light is pretty bad, especially considering what it rhymes with. Derby's Pride Park is another bad one considering their current form and their old one 'The Baseball ground' was just plain silly. The greatest stadium name of them all has to be Anfield, it just fills you with pride. Wembley isn't that bad either.

I'd have to agree. I don't know if it's because we don't live there L_B but when I watch English Football on Sky i always think that they have a lot of pride associated with their respective home grounds, so it's actually intimidating to go there, not just some company name. The Cricket grounds in Aust and NZ are the same to a lesser extent...

Actually, I think that there are some stadiums like that in NZ and Australia, mostly in Rugby more than Cricket there. The obvious example is Carisbrook - It's not called the House of Pain for no reason. Also, Jade Stadium to a lesser degree. Aussie? The Brumbies have made Bruce a fortress over the last few seasons, although they seem to be on the decline now.

This is defintely true. Teams are expected to do much better at home than away due to this "home advantage". And when a team is on a very good run of form at home, such as Newcastle at the moment, then I think it does affect the teams who go to play there. However there is also the downside that if the team isn't playing well then playing at home could become a liability, such as Sunderland.
