WOTM 15 Results & Congratulations

For the time being, the BOTM is replacing the WOTM. Right now, the staff isn't sure how many players would play all 3 games if they were available, so unless there's a large enough demand for the WOTM, I don't know that it will be released again.
And how will you tell ... if it is not released again?

Keeping to two games a month and rotating all three, each year would see 8 vanilla, 8 Warlords, and 8 BtS. Otherwise it is 12 vanilla and 12 BtS, if I understand the plan correctly. A third alternative might be 6 vanilla, 6 Warlords, and 12 BtS (unless folks get sick of the random events).

Maybe we want to poll among these specific alternatives?

Count me and Erkon as willing - as soon as he scrubs off the fallout. I think couple of other not bad players lacking 2 awards to Eptathlon will also be interested.

Nooooo!

Please keep WOTM in the cycle.

As BtS isn't available in my country, I vote for keeping GOTM and WOTM. If it is too much trouble for the staff, no big deal, though. I can go play HOF gauntlets or scale down my civving...

Woo hoo! I have the lowest scoring victory of all! I'm sure you're all jealous of my shiny badge. :mischief: Congrats to the other medalists! And thanks to the staff, and everyone who participates and posts.

Regarding BOTM completely replacing Warlords in the XOTM cycle ...

Looks like there might be enough sentiment to take a poll ... so one has been posted. A simple yes or no on keeping Warlords in the XOTM rotation ... if enough say yes, we can discuss and poll on the proprotions of each game in a yearly cycle of 24 at a later time.

you could order it online...I'm pretty sure PC games aren't region coded like most console games are.

Thrallia, thanks for your interest, but I've tried to order PC games online before (from Amazon or other vendors), but they say they aren't allowed to sell to my country. However I would be able to purchase any book (even one on how to make an A-bomb at home, if there was such book). Go figure.

Congrats to all of the players who competed!

Thanks once again to the staff for another well-supported game, especially one fraught will DLL troubles and other related problems that must have kept you over-worked and (as usual) under-paid! Also, thanks for once again daring to try out a new map with new settings. One seemingly simple setting--the lack of city razing--really changed the dynamics of the entire game!

Special thanks go out to all of you who competed for a Cultural Victory! I'm still writing up my spoiler on the matter (it'll be a while before I'm done, as usual), but I hope that you'll look forward to reading it and discussing it!

It must be the first time I beat you in a cultural run.
Maybe I'm not totally hopeless.
(of course, you played challenger while I played contender)

As for the temporary loss of the WOTM--I'm okay with it. I'm a die-hard WOTM fan, but until I upgrade my 4+ year old computer, two submissions a month is already barely achievable. Three submissions a month would make my CPU go bonkers. :crazyeye:

I already have BtS but haven't really done much more than start up a couple of games, get confused by the unit graphics, and wonder to myself if there is an easy way to "revert" the unit graphics to be the same for each Civ. BOTM (please don't call it BSOTM, as "BS" isn't the most appropriate acronym usage) should give me a chance to finally spin that new CD in my drive.

I would play all 3, with a preference for WotM and vanilla.
i miss WotM already. Maybe in a few months, I'll be more at ease with BtS, but right now, I'm really uncomfortable with the AI's big stacks.

The poll thread on this topic is

Have you voted? Might be best to keep the save or kill WOTM discussion in that one thread.

Addendum: And a new poll on which of three someone would (could) play:

Maybe you can convince dV to ship it to you ;)

congrats to all, especially jastrow and conquistador, who defeated me in the space race.

my main mistakes were not making delhi my science city and not expanding enough.

it was an experimental game for me. i went for a heavy GP space strategy, with pacifism, parthenon, and national epic paired with oxford. the results were encouraging. i think it can work.

You could try this site:
http://www.mailforwarding.biz/

They have a "free" trial as well (well, its costs a $US25 account set-up fee). You could look for similar mail forwarding services (we have a couple of companies here that do that).
