Unless I win a deity game on a huge map against 10 AIs, I will not buy any expansion pack.

Personally, the more expansion packs the better as long as they are worth buying them. Boy, this'll hurt my bank account, but hey it's worth it... I like the Sims idea; lots of expansion packs, it's also the best for the developers, they earn a lot more money than one release of the main game.

The bad thing about expansion games is that I've got the idea some game developers leave some features out of the game in order to put them in future expasion games, just to earn more.

If I think that the XP's are good I will buy them, if I think they are a bit dissapointing, I will wait until they are reduced. The initial announcement for Warlords was a bit dissapointing IMO, so unless things impove soon, I will wait until its fairly cheap.

Yes, I agree, I don't want the scenarios, I never even played one  :D I like the normal long games with generated maps and normal rules, starting from scratch. So no need for scenarios, but I like more features an extra era and new units etc.

Were still waiting to find out what will really be in the Warlord Expansion, They haven't said a thing since they first announced it. My guess is that in my next issue of PC GAMER they will have an "World Exclusive" on Warlords. If not PC GAMER then maybe Gamespot or IGN but they have to release the information soon, if they still intend on releasing it this summer.

It would be good if Civ could adopt the equiv of Valve's HL2 episodes. Buy the basic game, and then they can continue to update and mod the game overthe next few years or so.

With Civ there should be a huge range of possible expansions. And if done correctly, they could release them so they are all optional.

Warlords ,which has some new civs and a new Warlord Unit (whatever that is).

Then maybe Future Civ expansion, that lets you play to 2150 or something. (I think not that we're in 2006, having a 2050 ending year is a bit to early. As by the time you get to the present day, there's not really much time to use any of the stuff that you get. It wouldn't even need to go to very sci-fi. It would be cool to implement some "modern world problems" , like over crowding, lack of fresh water, oil, etc.

Then an expansion featuring more barbarian/rouge states. Give minor civilisations more importance. Make it possible for a small minor civ to control important resources so you have something approaching the middles eastern situation.

I'm sure they could they could also work on the religeon side of things some more. Make it more benifical to go crusading in the middle ages.

Civ's got the possibilty to be really flexible. Just now, it looks like it will be mainly down to "amature" modders to do a lot of the creative work. But I'm sure a lot of people would pay for some big in depth mods.

Other them to DL via the net at a low-ish price. :D

Ditto. I've never had much interest in scenarios and have never once bothered playing any, not in any version of Civ. I like playing a full game, from lone settler to burgeoning empire. So I won't buy the XP for those.

The new leaders and civs sound promising (especially Augustus--I'm a Romophile). But frankly, I still haven't gotten round to trying out more than 1/4 of the leaders in the vanilla version.

The most enticing features of the XP are the new units, resources, buildings (especially unique buildings), and the vassal state concept. However, the most interesting new feature, to me, is that Great Warlord. I'm something of a Great Person addict, so that alone may entice me to buy the XP.

However, I'll be waiting to hear others on this forum weigh in on the XP's overall worth before I buy.
