Wrong civ when I reload

Beyond the excruciating slow load times . . .

I am the Romans, but when I relaod my saved game, I am now in contol of the Egyptians! I reloaded two different saved gaems (1470 AD and 1460 AD) and both have me in control of the wrong civ. I can do everything for Egyptians except end their turn nor can I open the options screen. Anybody else have a similar problem? I'm tired of reloading because it takes 15 minutes just, but that game was going so great. . .

15 minutes to load? Ouch... I've never had it happen to me but then I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had hardly any trouble with the game. I think the savegames are in ASCII format... If they are you can open the savegame in notepad/wordpad and take a looksee. It should say in there which players turn it is which are AI/human etc. I know maps are saved in ASCII, and I thought I got into a savegame...

This is, to put it mildly, bizarre. I'd assume this was a corrupt save if it was one case, but if it's happening for two separate games then I'm baffled. I haven't seen anything like this mentioned anywhere up till now. You haven't been doing anything with world builder have you?

Yes, it is bizarre. When it first happened, I thought I loaded the wrong game. Then the map was the same, the year was the same. . . everything was the same except I'm controlling the wrong civ.

Something else happened that I forgot to mention. The "You are entering the XXXX era" popped up then "YYY era" then the "ZZZ era" right in succession. I can't rmember the exact eras that popped up (Classical, Renaissance, Industrial I think). After I clicked on all those, I took control of the Egyptians.

I'll try 1370 AD tonight. If that does the same thing, I'm done with that game and I'll sadly start a new one. Man, I was kickin' some tail!

Yes I had the same problem last night! I was the Chinese on the Earth scenario, I was in the industrial age. When I reloaded the game, I can see Egyptian cities... I thought to myself, "hmmm, maybe I've loaded the wrong game, although I'm sure I haven't been the Egyptians yet" but lo and behold, I'm now a human playing an AI civ, and my name is now AI!
And as mentioned by atwaterct, it cycled through the Ages but kept saying "Waiting for other civs". All I could do was start destroying the Egyptians' improvements for the hell of it hahaha.
