I don't know about you guys but I'm all about historical accuracy the shields on the Praetorian and Danrell's Rome units are wrong they should look like this

if anyone actually takes this into consideration the red part was the color that changed based on faction

I never cared for the shields in-game, either. I would've preferred something more like this, although I admit my knowledge as to the particulars of legionary shield design is a bit lacking. :)

You have to remember that the Roman Empire spanned several centuries. The design linked to in the first post is just one of many designs that were used over those centuries.

Obviously, yes, but the question is, how does this compare with the ones used in the game? I can't remember what they looked like, but as I recall they weren't particularly appealing one way or the other. Oh well. When we have a UU named the "praetorian" what do you expect...? :D

this is what a real legionary look liked

That makes even less sense. Having a Praetorian for a Roman UU is about like putting the Army Rangers or Secret Service :D for the American UU. It is clear what Firaxis intended--the legion has been in since Civ I, so this is another incarnation of it. They're just too historically illiterate to understand the subtle difference between the small praetorian element of the legions and the average foot soldier. But it's not a big deal--modders can just change the name in XML and redo the art, and all will be well. :)
