Ww2 Fps

Call of Duty 4 isn't exactly arcadey, at least its a step up from BF2. Graphics and physics of Crysis FTW.

However, we need limits to the map. And realistically, tanks bust through buildings. Maybe we could have minefields on edges of maps, or something similar?

The problem with implementing physics and making a lot of the environment destroyable means that server has to do all the calculations and if you have 20 or 40 players, each blowing stuff up it just overwhelms the CPU and the game slows down to a crawl.

What was so special about Red Orchestra out of interest? I actually bought it thinking it was Day of Defeat and didn't play it

The learning curve is steep, especialyl at first, yes, but practice makes perfect. I'm fairly good with most of the weapons, semi-automatic rifles are still iffy for me though (but it seems to differ between people and their preferred weapon(s)).

And Cleric, I. Don't. CARE. They can implement the trees disapearing right away and then respawning later if they have to for multiplayer! I just want to run over that god damned tree with my tank!

But yes that is a good point. I'm not sure how much they limited it but DX9 Crysis multi has a lot less destruction apparently >_<

Red Orchestra's whole shtick is that it's a super-uber realistic version of Battlefield set entirely on the Eastern Front in WW2. It's pretty fun, if you like a bit of realism in your FPS. And when I say realism, I mean, is that a German or a Soviet soldier over there? Ah, I'll just shoot him anyway...*TK*

The accurately modelled uniforms tend to look pretty similar to the untrained eye, especially at a distance.

Suppose that really is what you want for a game, the ability to pull in the player, to make them feel they're really fighting adds alot to a game

I hate that. Which makes the usualy server limit on 3-5 TKs then you're kicked/banned for the rest of that map useful when someone is TKing on purpose, but annoying when they run into your artillery strike (some people don't seem to realise artillery fires SEVERAL BARRAGES) or when your nade bounces off something the wrong way.

Unfortunately RO does have it's bad apples just like any game's player base, but I just ignore them. Unfortunately to there are still vehichle hogs! I HATE it when someone hops into a vehichle that has room for multiple people and drives off. There's 9 seats in the half-track for a reason!

Did I mention you hear bullets hitting and whizzing through the air near you? It can make you dive for cover sometimes.
