I saw the what if Spain thread, and got to thinking about this. As I understand it, Argentina was a fascit-leaning nation around WW2....they were the only country not to sign on with the states agaisnt the axis powers. I knew that had a decent size army, as far as south american countires go.

What if they had joined the war? They prob wouldnt have sent troups to Europe, but opened up a south american area of the war, possiblty invading chile or Brazil.

Brazil was the Dominant Military power of South America at the time, (although that isnt really saying much), but they had sent a large portion of their units to fight in north africa with the brits and the states.

Would say, an Allied push into Bruenos Aries spread them too thin, so that the axis could break thru somewhere else? or would it really not have mattered?

your thoughts

They might have been used for resupplying uboats or other ships, but beyond that, i doubt they would have had much inpact :)

I don't think Argentian would have been able to win Brazil, Chile and other countries that will ally against her for sure :)

Especially since America had a vested interest in maintaining her supply links to Brazil, no I think it would not have done much :)

Indeed they might, but this function was already served by Uruguay. Of course, one can never have enough u-boat resupplying stations... :)

Britain would have certainly made a point of doing something pretty nasty to her.
