Yahoo Pool

Playing reasonably well so far even though I've been doing plenty of other things on the net so I haven't been concentrating 100%. I was worried when i saw that BCLG had a rating of over 1800...

Lost the second game after potting the white as well as the black. At the time it looked like the shot was okay...

Thrid Match WildFire vs Dell19

Frame 1

I can't really remember what happened in this frame. All I know is that I started decently but then missed a shot and Dell just didnt stop on his rampage of hitting them in :p

Result 1-0 to Dell19

Frame 2

I started pretty good but once again I miss and Dell19 takes advantage of it. He was aiming at the 8 ball when I got a very lucky break! He had a really nice shot but he hit the 8 ball AND the cue ball into the pockets. I won and I had 3 balls left!

Result 1-1 Tied

Frame 3

Dell got 2 to start but then I got 4 straight. Then he got 3 straight. For the math impaired, he was ahread by 1. I then sunk 2 and he sunk 2. But, he sunk red one (:p) AND the cue ball. This enabled me to sink the orange one and 8 ball since I had a good position!

Result 2-1 WildFire

Thoughts!

I should've lost 3-0 lol

Wow how unlucky can one guy get? ;) anyway i guess well played Wildfire :)
ill start drawing up a table now. ill use my way first and then change it to gainy's way if people would rather use that one.

We could use both systems although I'm not sure how seriously people want to take this and there is always the problem that whichever current system that we use, people who play more will lead. Either they will eventually gain more points or have won more games.

Well we could have a rule saying that you cant play another person twice until the majority has played the majority of other people. therefore the points wont really be counted until afterwards.

I think we need a more organized standings.

i.e., all series are 3 games.
A win/loss record will be kept after each series is played.

We could play in a semi-roundrobin fashion to play our series.

For example:

Code:
	BCLG Chieftess	CivGeneral	WildFire
BCLG	X 1 2 3
CT	1 X 3 4
CG	2 3 X 1
WF	3 4 1 X

The numbers would be the series. So, BCLG's first series (with a first series "by-series) is against me, then CG, then WF. My first one is against BCLG, then a break, then CG and WF.

The (potential) problem with both solutions is that they assume that everyone can play reasonably the same amount of games, something like the current Yahoo rankings might be better and we could use the same system that is used to calculate rankings in chess rankings so that there is less benefit to playing lots of games if you tend to lose most of them.

Code:
Names	Games Played	Won	Lost	Points Frames Won	Frames Lost	Difference
BCLG100 2	1	1	1	4 2 2
WildFire	1	1	0	1	2 1 1
Dell_19 2	1	1	1	3 3 0
CivGeneral	1	0	1	0	0 3 -3

Well thats the table ive done so far, with 1 point for a win. i think that we should play each other once then wait for everyone else to play each other once before we probably consult the results table.

Thats not great for me as I am about to lose my second game and probably could play better later but now I will have to wait for everyone else to play lots of games...

CT went the first, and it quickly became clear that Dell was not having a good day. Mid-way through the game, Dell started making errors such as bad shots, and knocking the cue ball into the pocket. Several lucky shots were made that game, including Chieftess getting out of a jam. The first game went to Chieftess.

CT 1 - Dell 0

Game 2 - This game started off well, with Chieftess getting ball after ball in the pocket. Dell was doing ok too, until Dell pocketed the 8-ball by ricocheting the cueball off another ball.

CT 2 - Dell 0

Game 3 - Chieftess' luck started running out early on, with Dell getting ball after ball in, but still making some mistakes. Chieftess nearly had the game in hand until a tricky shot occured at the end, a miscue so to speak in trying to wedge the cueball under a solid (CT's color). Chieftess wasn't able to capitalize on Dell's mistakes this game, and it quickly went to Dell.

CT 2 - Dell 1

Several shots haven't worked out recentl, hopefully in my next games things will improve...

at least i made the second and third game mine. :) unlucky final frame though CT

Final Result 2-1 TO BCLG 100

Code:

WildFire	1	1	0	1	2 1 1
Chieftess	2	1	1	1	3 3 0
Dell_19 3	1	2	1	3 4 -1
